La Charla’ Hosts Share Advice for Latinas Who Experience Body Image Insecurities

Feeling insecure about our bodies is more common than you might think. In the age of social media where uploading and browsing through photos has become an everyday thing, body image has taken the forefront in our priorities, even more so in the fashion and beauty industry.

Has this topic ever come up between you and your friends? In the latest episode of our new series La Charla, available now on the LATV+ app, Amara La Negra, Rocsi Diaz and Marycarmen Lopez Schulman share their personal experiences as they address the topic of body image and everything related to it.

Our hosts sit down and talk about the relationship that Latina women in particular have with their bodies. The burning question is, how do you feel about yourself when you look in the mirror? Do you care about what others think and say about your body? How does it affect you?

Through their work in the entertainment industry, our La Charla hosts Rocsi, Marycarmen and Amara, have become influential figures in our culture, experiencing, first hand, the pressures of conforming to body image and aesthetic standards.

We can often see this in the influence our mothers have on our self-esteem. Many times and often unintentionally, they can be demanding and pressure us to fit the mold seen in the world of entertainment, even if our bodies are very far from that.

We can easily become obsessed and lose sight of what really matters. Never forget that feeling good about ourselves, loving and respecting our bodies goes above everything else.  Love yourself, just as you are. Remember that always.
