5 Promising Mexican Artists to Keep on Your Radar

Regional Mexican music has already become globally recognized in recent years, with a new generation of artists bringing life into the centuries-old genre and giving it a new, more modern twist. From chart-topping hits to sold-out shows around the world, these Mexican artists are proving that regional Mexican music can go far further than Mexico- it can dominate the world stage.
At the forefront of this movement is the meteoric rise of Peso Pluma. Hailing from Zapopan, this young singer-songwriter has quickly become one of the most exciting and influential figures in regional Mexican music. With his unique blend of corridos tumbados, a style that fuses traditional Mexican ballads with modern trap and hip-hop influences, Peso Pluma has captured the attention of music fans within and beyond the Spanish-speaking world.
His breakout hit “Ella Baila Sola” not only topped the regional Mexican charts but also secured the fifth position as the world’s most-listened-to track and made history by becoming the first Mexican song to claim the top spot on Spotify’s global charts. Peso Pluma himself also became the fifth most-listened-to artist globally last year, with his album “Génesis” reaching the ninth spot on the global album charts and his music amassing over 9 billion views on Spotify.
But Peso Pluma is just one of many Mexican artists who are redefining the genre and pushing it to new heights. And we even had the chance to sit down to talk to some of them!
Four Young Mexican Regional Artists on the Rise!
1. Delilah
For many young artists, securing a contract with a prominent record label, and meeting their musical idols remains a distant dream. However, for Delilah Cabrera, a teenager from Wenatchee, México, this dream has become a reality.
At the age of 16, Cabrera released her debut recorded song and accompanying music video titled “Amor Perdido” earlier this year, following her signing with Los CT Records. This label, established the previous summer, was founded by her musical idol, Natanael Cano.
Cabrera’s musical journey began last year when she and a group of friends started posting musical videos on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Her venture into the professional music scene started in April when a representative from Los CT Records reached out to her via TikTok with a promising opportunity. The rest is history and you’ll get to see her on this week’s episode of Get it Girl!
2. Xavi
Take Xavi, for example, who is just 18 years old. Born Joshua Xavier Gutierrez to Mexican parents who immigrated to the US in 2002, Xavi’s journey from aspiring musician to a promising sensation has been marked by a unique blend of cultural influences and a musical style he classifies as “Tumbado Romantico.”
Xavi’s debut single with Interscope Records proved to be a catalyst for his rapid ascent, with his single “La Víctima” gaining over 12 million views on YouTube in just two months and more than 27 million streams on Spotify.
3. Ángela Aguilar
Ángela Aguilar, part of the acclaimed Aguilar Dynasty, started her musical career very early on, joining her family on stage at just three years old. Her breakout solo album, “Primero Soy Mexicana,” helped put her into the spotlight, earning her critical praise and a Latin Grammy nomination, while her performance of “La Llorona” received a standing ovation from the audience and established her as a star at age 18.
Following this success, she ventured into English-language music, garnering a Grammy nomination and accumulating a massive following on social media platforms like TikTok and Spotify. In 2024, at 20 years old, Ángela expanded her repertoire with “Bolero,” a nine-song album featuring classic covers produced by her father, Pepe Aguilar, and recorded in Cuba.
4. Lupita Infante
We also had the pleasure of talking to Lupita Infante, granddaughter of the legendary Pedro Infante, who embraces her Mexican roots through her music career, despite growing up in the United States. Her journey into the regional genre began with a notable appearance on “La Voz México” after completing her ethnomusicology degree at UCLA.
Signing with Laura Pausini’s manager, her debut album “Ya Ni Me Acuerdo” kickstarted her professional journey, notably showcased in her album “La Serenata,” which earned her nominations at prestigious awards like the Latin Grammy and Grammy Awards. The young artist has demonstrated to her audience the global impact of Mexican music through her creative talents and dedication.
5. Natanael Cano
Another prominent star who is quickly gaining worldwide attention is Natanael Cano. Born and raised in Sonora, Mexico, Cano is credited with revolutionizing the style and sound of corridos tumbados, which has greatly contributed to the success of hits like “Soy El Diablo” and “Amor Tumbado.”
Other up-and-coming artists, such as Junior H, Christian Nodal, and Fuerza Regida, are also establishing their presence on the regional Mexican scene, and we are sure to expect even more names to appear in the near future.
These musicians, along with numerous others, are at the forefront of redefining the sound of regional Mexican music and challenging the perception of what the genre can be. By blending traditional styles with contemporary influences, they are creating a new, modern sound that resonates with fans from around the world. So keep an eye on these Mexican artists- they’re on the rise and show no signs of slowing down.
