Delilah Cabrera, the “Princess of Corridos Tumbados”

Delilah Cabrera is gaining recognition in the regional Mexican music scene, and her journey has been nothing short of remarkable. Born and raised in a small town in Washington, Delilah grew up in a tight-knit musical family where songs and celebrations were a big part of life. Music was always present at family gatherings, and from a young age, Delilah found herself singing and dancing alongside her relatives.

But her connection to music became even deeper after the loss of her grandmother when she was just five years old. Her grandmother’s passing left a void, and Delilah turned to music as a way to cope and feel connected to her. Initially, she began writing and singing in English, the only language she knew at the time, hoping her grandmother could hear and understand her melodies from wherever she was. However, as Delilah grew older, she decided to learn Spanish, her father’s native language, to compose songs that felt closer to her cultural roots and her grandmother’s memory.
Her talent didn’t go unnoticed in her community. Delilah became involved in local music events and joined a mariachi group, where she performed across Washington. She discovered a special connection to singing in Spanish, especially in the genre of corridos and other regional Mexican music, which allowed her to embrace and express her heritage.

At just 16 years old, Delilah achieved most teenagers’ dream by being signed to a major record label. Her journey into the professional music world began when she and her friends posted videos of her singing on TikTok and Instagram. The videos gained attention, and in April 2023, a representative from Los CT Records, founded by her favorite artist Natanael Cano, reached out to her.
This marked the beginning of Delilah’s professional career. After researching and discussing the offer with her parents, she decided to go for it. By June, Delilah was on a plane to Los Angeles, where she signed with Los CT and started recording her own songs, making history as the first woman to be signed by the label.
Her first single, “Amor Perdido,” was recorded in Los Angeles in September 2023 and released in January 2024. The song, which Delilah wrote herself, quickly gained traction on streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. The music video for the track was also filmed in Los Angeles, and Delilah enjoyed being able to bring her creative ideas to life in the video, describing it as a proud moment.

Delilah’s experience didn’t stop at recording music. She flew to Mexico City, where she met Natanael Cano in person and was introduced to other artists she admired, including Gabriel “Gabito” Ballesteros and Yahritza Martinez. The trip deepened her motivation to pursue her dreams and provided her with knowledge of the way the music industry works.

Despite her young age, Delilah’s goals go beyond just becoming famous. She has always dreamed of being either a famous soccer player or a singer, and now that she’s achieved the latter, she wants her music to help others. Delilah is passionate about connecting with her audience on an emotional level, drawing from her own life experiences to write songs that resonate with listeners. Whether it’s the pain of betrayal in relationships, as heard in her song “Modelo,” or the more universal themes of self-worth and emotional healing, Delilah strives to make music that her fans can relate to and find comfort in.
Although she still attends high school, where she is a member of the Mariachi Huenachi program at Wenatchee High, Delilah is fully committed to her musical career. She continues to write and record new songs, balancing school life with trips to Los Angeles and Mexico City. She’s excited for the future and hopes to inspire others, especially young girls from small towns like hers, to chase their dreams, no matter how big they seem.
With the support of her family, her label, and her growing fan base, Delilah Cabrera is well on her way to making a lasting impact on the world of music.
