Clint Eastwood’s New ‘Cry Macho’ Latino Themed Movie

Warner Bro’s new film Cry Macho is set to be directed and starred in by Clint Eastwood. Cry Macho will come out in theaters and streaming on HBO Max on Sept. 17, which will be a tough guy alternative to the new Cinderella 2021 movie about to come out. Al Ruddy, Jessica Meier, and Tim Moore will all have a hand in helping to produce the movie under Clint Eastwood’s production company Malpaso Productions. Actor Eduardo Minett will co-star in the movie with Clint Eastwood, making his English-language featured film debut. That’s right, Clint Eastwood at 90 whatever years old is throwing on the ol’ cowboy hat one more time for a film with a Latino costar who could be the next Latino Superhero like Xolo Mariduena.
Natalia Traven, Dwight Yoakam, Horacio Garcia Rojas, and Fernanda Urrejola are also set to star in the film. The Cry Macho film is based on a screenplay called Macho, written by N. Richard Nash and Nick Schenk. The screenplay was later adapted into a novel written by Nash under the title Cry Macho.
Cry Macho follows the story of Mike Milo, played by Eastwood. The movie takes place in 1978, where Eastwood plays a fading rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder. Milo’s life has been full of hardships, such as the loss of his wife and child. He is in an alcoholic depression and is in rough shape, when he is approached by his former boss, Howard, for a favor. Milo is asked to kidnap Howard’s son, Rafo (played by Eduardo Minett) and bring him home to Texas from Mexico. Rafo’s mother is an alcoholic, and his father lost custody of the boy some time ago. Milo is set to make $50,000 from the deal, by collecting ransom money from Rafo’s mother. The film follows Milo and Rafo’s journey through rural Mexico and the challenges they face to find their way back to Texas. Milo is forced to confront his own masculinity and trauma throughout the trip. Their journey allows Milo to find his own version of redemption by imparting upon Rafo what it means to become a good man.
Clint Eastwood has a gift for finding new talent. In his 2008 drama, Gran Torino, he introduced newcomer Bee Vang as his co-star and the movie was a great success. Soon Eastwood’s co-star Eduardo Minett will be making his first U.S. debut in Cry Macho. It will be interesting to see the dynamics between Eastwood and Minett, and if Eastwood will find more success. Minett is fifteen years old and from Mexico. He was born February 19, 2006. Minett is a famous Mexican TV actor. He has appeared on TV shows such as Papá a Toda Madre and Como dice el dicho. Minett’s first on-screen role was as Nilo in La Rosa de Guadalupe in 2014. His estimated net worth is around one-three million dollars. Minett is a private person and tends to keep family and relationships from the public’s eye, so not much is known about his personal life.
Cry Macho is the thirty-ninth film directed by the ninety-one year old Eastwood. Eastwood’s age has never stopped him from bringing to life award-winning movies like Million Dollar Baby, Gran Torino, The Mule, Flags of Our Fathers, American Sniper, Unforgiven, Pale Rider, and The Outlaw Josey Wales. Even among all the restrictions and production issues COVID-19 caused, Eastwood still prevailed in seeing his vision come to life. Hopefully, Cry Macho will live up to our expectations, and Eastwood will have created another award winning movie.
