Cinderella: Top 5 Reasons to Love the Upgraded Fairy Tale

As a big fan of Disney movies, I’m genuinely excited for this reboot of Cinderella in the modern days that Amazon is set to release on September 3rd.

1. The film is written and directed by Pitch Perfect director, Kay Cannon and stars Latina Camila Cabello as Cinderella.

2. Even though it’s based on the fairly tale, this time around, Cinderella (Ella) means business and she clearly doesn’t need a prince to save her from her evil step family.

3. Ella is chasing her dreams and not a husband. She is looking to build a clothing empire “Dresses by Ella,” as seen in the trailer released Tuesday.

4. Who better than stylist Broadway star, Billy Porter, to help her achieve that? Porter plays a fun and opinionated Godmother who won’t leave you indifferent.

5. The idea to create a new adaptation stemmed from television host James Corden, who also has a little cameo, as one of Cinderella’s mice. Other cast members include Minnie Driver, Nicholas Galitzine, Missy Elliott and Pierce Brosnan.

“I have to make a life for myself,” her character says at the beginning of the three-minute clip when her evil stepmother (played by Tony winner Idina Menzel) threatens to throw her out on the street.
