Xolo Maridueña Might Be The Next DC Superhero

For all the fans of Cobra Kai, you might get to see your favorite actor embodying superhero Jaime Reyes in “Blue Beetle” for HBO Max, Warner Bros and DC Films.

In DC Comics, Blue Beetle is the superhero alter ego used by three different heroes. The first Beetle was Dan Garrett, who initially gained superpowers from a special vitamin. The second Blue Beetle, created by Charlton Comics, and later taken over by DC Comics, was the successor to Dan Garrett known as Ted Kord. Kord never had any superpowers but used science to create devices that will help him fight crime, and last but not least, the third Blue Beetle created by DC is the Mexican-American teenager Jaime Reyes who over the years became part of the Teen Titans.

The latino representation exists also behind the cameras; Angel Manuel Soto is set to direct and the screenplay is from Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who wrote Universal’s “Scarface” remake and Sony’s “Miss Bala.”

DC now has two Latino superheroes, Batgirl played by Leslie Grace and now possibly Xolo. So, Marvel, you need to catch up!
