The stars of the Latin music world gathered for a dazzling night of music and celebration at the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Regional Mexican sensation Peso Pluma emerged as the night’s biggest winner, taking home a remarkable eight awards.

Peso Pluma, hailing from the state of Jalisco, showcased his prowess in the industry by taking home Artist of the Year, Debut award, along with the title of “Hot Latin Songs” Artist of the Year, Male. He also walked away with the prestigious Songwriter of the Year award, recognizing his remarkable achievement of more than 20 hits on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. The artist, who recently faced threats leading to the cancellation of some of his live performances in Mexico, displayed unwavering resilience and joy throughout the evening.
Upon accepting his accolades, Peso Pluma graciously expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you very much to all my fans. Many thanks to my best friend Jasiel Nuñez who is here with me, to my entire team, and to everyone who has collaborated with me this year, thank you for making this possible, up to Mexico!”
Peso Pluma wowed the audience with electrifying performances, including a memorable duet with Nicki Nicole on their hit song “Por las Noches” and a lively rendition of his chart-topper, “La Bebe,” alongside Yng Lvcas.

Global superstar Bad Bunny was another dominant force at the awards ceremony, securing seven wins, including Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, and Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year. He also collected two awards for his chart-topping track, “Titi Me Preguntó.” The Puerto Rican sensation made a triumphant return to the Billboard Latin Music Awards stage, stating,
“Since I began my career, I always had a vision, which people did not understand, and that was that Latin music could be at the top, above any music in the entire world.”
Bad Bunny’s performance of a medley of hits, including “Moscow Mule,” “Tití Me Preguntó,” and “Where She Goes,” as well as the first live performance of “Un Preview,” left the audience in awe.

Colombian star Karol G also had an exceptional evening, winning five awards, two of which were for her album “Mañana Será Bonito,” including “Top Latin Album of the Year.” Karol G, whose album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, became the first Spanish-language female artist in history to achieve this milestone. Additionally, she was honored with the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award for her philanthropic work supporting women through her -Con Cora Foundation-. Paris Hilton presented her friend Karol G with the esteemed award, recognizing her remarkable efforts.

The evening also saw Puerto Rican reggaeton pioneer Ivy Queen receiving the Billboard Icon Award for her significant contributions to Latin music. Ivy Queen credited urban music for teaching her to embrace her essence and expressed her immense pride in seeing more women take the stage.
Mexican cumbia group Los Ángeles Azules received the Billboard Artistic Career Award, celebrating over 40 years of musical excellence. Their medley of hits, featuring Nicki Nicole, Ximena Sariñana, and Sofía Reyes, was a highlight of the night.
In a heartfelt tribute, Chiquis, Caliber 50, and Los Sebastianes paid homage to the legendary “Diva de la Banda” Jenni Rivera, a decade after her passing. The evening was further electrified by performances from Justin Quiles, El Alfa, Myke Towers, Yandel, Grupo Frontera, Olga Tañón, Marc Anthony, and Pepe Aguilar.
