Yo Soy Betty, La Fea

The massively successful Colombian soap opera that transcended borders and won hearts worldwide is set for a sequel, continuing the story of beloved Beatriz Pinzón Solano 20 years after the original production ended. Prime Video announced that the new series, produced by Estudios RCN, will premiere in 2024 and feature the same protagonists from the 1999 telenovela: Ana María Orozco and Jorge Enrique Abello.

A more mature, professional Betty is separated from Armando although still legally married for 2 decades. She now must rebuild her relationship with their teenage daughter, Mila, while dealing with a crisis in the family company and questioning her past decisions.

Margarita

Cris Morena is preparing Margarita, the sequel to the successful Argentinian soap opera Floricienta, which starred Florencia Bertotti and aired in 2004. Morena has brought back two original cast members, Isabel Macedo and Graciela Stefani, who played Delfina and Malala, respectively, but Bertotti will not be returning. In this sequel, the plot follows teenager Margarita, the daughter of Flor and El Conde, who was taken away from her parents as a baby during a rebellion in the Krikoragán kingdom. Upon discovering this, the evil Delfina decides to adopt a very similar girl to keep the entire fortune for herself.

Rebelde Way

In 2022, the beloved series that originally aired in Argentina returned to screens as Rebelde. The reboot followed a new generation of students at Elite Way School (EWS) in Mexico City, pursuing their musical dreams while facing a familiar enemy: the Lodge, a secret society. Unfortunately, it was canceled after two seasons on Netflix.

Set in the same school as the Mexican version of the soap opera, which aired between 2004 and 2006, the show follows a group of upper-class teens studying at the exclusive Elite Way School. Meanwhile, wealthy families strive to maintain their status by targeting the underprivileged students who receive scholarships to the institution. The adventures and experiences of Roberta, Mia, Miguel, Diego, Giovanni, and Lupita captivated millions of viewers across Latin America and Spain.

The original Argentine series Rebelde Way began airing in May 2002 on Azul TV, spanning 318 episodes until its final episode in the summer of 2003. While both versions shared many similarities, there were significant differences between the two.
