Yalitza Aparicio Joins Latino Series “Los Espookys” S2

If you follow the Planet HBO Max Instagram, there’s one reel that was just posted that has us gagging! Yaltiza Aparicio, the celebrated Mexican actress, and ex-preschool teacher, who captured our hearts with her stellar performance in the Academy Award Winning film Roma, will be featured on ‘Los Espookys’ Season 2. 

In the teaser clips being released, Yalitza will play the character of the moon and will star opposite the series creator Julio Torres who plays Andres in the show executive produced by fellow SNL alum Fred Armisen. 

In an interview featured in Entertainment Weekly, Julio Torres expressed that the casting of Yalitza Aparicio as the moon in ‘Los Espookys’ came out of a desire to cast someone with an undeniable presence, something Aparicio has been known for both as an actress and as a cover model for the most respected magazines in fashion including Vogue. Torres described her as a calm, warm and serene person who still has a commanding presence. 

Season 2 of ‘Los Espookys’ premiered on September 16th on HBO Max. The new season of the series will revolve around the haunting of Renaldo (played by Bernardo Velasco) by a murdered beauty queen. 

Yalitza has also been keeping exceptionally busy with projects including her work on the coming film Presences as well as being featured in Mon Laferte’s music video.
