Yalitza Aparicio to Star in New Movie ‘Presences’

Yalitza Aparicio is going back to what she does best, acting. Aparicio, who was nominated for an Oscar and even hosted the Latin GRAMMY’s will star in a movie called “Presences.” This movie will be less art-house and more murder cabin, because rumor has it it’s a horror film where a couple goes to a secluded cabin, and you guessed it, spooky things happen. She’ll be starring opposite Damián Alcázar (Hell and Narcos) and the movie is currently in production in her homeland of Mexico.

“Presences” is directed by Luis Mandoki who previously directed the flick “Innocent Voices.” El Universal: describes the new Yalitza Aparicio movie as “The film tells the story of a man who loses his wife and goes to seclude himself in a cabin in the woods, where strange things happen.”

The new role in a horror flick will give us move of a look into her acting skill in a different genre, and thank goodness, without a maid costume on. Aparicio has been busy outside of her main role of acting as a model, spokesperson for Mexican cinema, and overall an advocate for Latinos, telling Indie Wire

“My objective in my career is to give visibility to all of us who have been kept in the dark for so long. The acting projects I’m working on are moving slowly because I’m putting all my efforts in not being pigeonholed because of my appearance. There are many people who have the disposition to help change things. We’ve had enough of people being typecast in certain roles or characters based on the color of their skin. We have a complicated job, because these things can’t be changed overnight but hopefully we can show people that the only limits are within us.”
