- Vancouver police proceeded to arrest four suspects following an emergency call made by the affected man’s wife regarding the kidnapping.

- Authorities managed to intercept the vehicle and rescue the victim safe and sound in the state of Washington.
An offer too good to be true that ended in a violent Vancouver kidnapping
What felt like a quick and simple opportunity to make some extra cash turned into an absolute nightmare within minutes for a Washington resident, who ended up in a kidnapping situation after stepping voluntarily into a vehicle belonging to complete strangers. Everything started late last Wednesday afternoon when four men aboard a black Suburban approached the victim in the Portland area to pitch a seemingly harmless deal consisting of helping them cash a bank check in exchange for financial compensation. However, once the man accepted the proposal and got inside the automobile, the situation took a dark and threatening turn since the subjects prevented him from leaving the vehicle, sparking deep concern among his family circle and immediately triggering local authorities’ emergency protocols.
The wife’s quick distress call enabling police and State Patrol intervention
Amid the desperation of not knowing her husband’s whereabouts and noticing that something serious was happening, the kidnapped man’s wife quickly dialed 911 near three-fifteen in the afternoon to report to police that her partner was suffering a kidnapping. Because the wife managed to stay in touch and track real-time location while the vehicle traveled across toward Vancouver, officers coordinated with the Washington State Patrol to set up a pursuit, rescue and arrest operation. Following intense tracking across regional highways, law enforcement forces located the black Suburban driving on Southeast 164th Avenue toward State Route 14, where they executed a precise traffic stop tactic to intercept the suspects.
Capture of the four Washington suspects and the victim’s miraculous uninjured rescue
During the police operation deployed in Washington, agents proceeded with the preventive arrest of the four vehicle occupants identified as Akeem J. Mattis, Dennis D. Nelson, Corey D. Jenkins, and Jerome T. Boyd. Likewise, officers conducted a foot search in the immediate surroundings where they intercepted the car, successfully locating the hostage safe and sound a short distance from the scene, happily confirming that he displayed zero physical injuries despite the terrifying moment experienced.
