Sofía Vergara Stars ‘Griselda’
The upcoming Netflix series “Griselda” promises to offer a new perspective on the notorious world of drug trafficking, focusing on the intriguing story of Griselda Blanco, better known as The Black Widow. Sofía Vergara, the renowned Colombian actress and producer celebrated for her comedic roles in shows like “Modern Family,” takes on the transformative role of the titular character, Griselda Blanco. In a departure from her usual comedic performances, Vergara not only plays the lead but also serves as a co-producer alongside Eric Newman and director Andrés Baiz, known for his work on “Narcos.”
The miniseries takes a deep look into Griselda’s life, portraying her as a devoted mother and ambitious businesswoman responsible for creating one of the most profitable drug cartels in history.

Adding to the star-studded cast is Latin Grammy Award-winning singer Karol G in her first acting role. Playing the part of Carla, one of Griselda’s key employees involved in drug transportation, Karol G has the chance to reveal her versatility beyond the music scene. In preparation for her role, she shared with Vogue México y Latinoamérica, “It’s like another universe that I hadn’t experienced. I’m in my acting and body expression classes, and they have enriched me not only for the series but for what I constantly do.”
The supporting cast of “Griselda” brings a rich variety of talent to the table.
Juliana Aidén Martinez, known for her role in The Blacklist and Prodigal Son, portrays June, the first female intelligence analyst in the Miami PD, determined to stop Griselda’s violent crimes.
Martín Rodríguez (27: The Cursed Club, Zanahoria) embodies Rivi, Griselda’s right-hand man and hitman, whose charm is as enticing as it is frightening.
Vanessa Ferlito takes on the role of Carmen, a woman who used to work with Griselda in her former trafficking circle but is now looking to stay far away from Griselda’s new Miami operations. Vanessa is known for NCIS: New Orleans, Graceland, Julie & Julia, and Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail,
Paulina Dávila (Savage Rhythm, Ella Camina Sola, Here on Earth, The Deal, Bunker, Carrion) portrays Isabel, Griselda’s friend from Colombia who ends up working for her.
Cuban actor Alberto Guerra, known for his roles in El Señor de los Cielos, El Refugio, Narcos, Narcos: Mexico, Ladrón de Corazones, and Ingobernable, plays Dario, tasked with finding Griselda and falling in love with her.

José Zúñiga (True Lies, Quantum Leap, Westworld, Chicago P.D, Narcos: Mexico, Madam Secretary, American Crime Story, Snowfall) portrays Amilcar, the sophisticated Miami cartel boss who has connections throughout the local drug scene.
Orlando Pineda as Dixon, Griselda’s eldest son, who constantly causes problems but will do anything for his mother. The actor is best known for his roles in Narcos: Mexico, The Infiltrators, and Milagros de Navidad.
Jose Velazquez (Action Royale, The Rookie, Magnum P.I., The Wilds, The Affair) plays Uber, the middle son, who shares his mother’s cunning and wit.
The family is completed by Martín Fajardo (Now and Then, Pikwik Pack, Betty en NY, Milagros de Navidad) as Ozzy, Griselda’s youngest son and the one she spoils the most.
Christian Tappan joins the ensemble as Arturo Mesa, Griselda’s accountant from Medellín, who comes to Miami to help her make business connections. You might recognize the Mexican actor from Primate, Wild District, and The Robbery of the Century.
Camilo Jiménez Varón ( The Queen and the Conqueror, Las Pasantes, Wild District) takes on the role of Rafa, a formidable figure who works for the Ochoa family, the biggest cocaine suppliers in Colombia, and teaches Griselda how to smuggle drugs.
Finally, Argentinian actor Alberto Ammann, who was in Narcos, Narcos: Mexico, The Longest Night, and Mars, rounds out the cast as Alberto, Griselda’s former husband who initially involved her in the cocaine trade.
