Lil Nas X “Industry Baby” Video:

Lil Nas X “Industry Baby” Video:

Lil Nas X just dropped the video to the Kanye West-produced single “Industry Baby” featuring Jack Harlow and it’s an absolute banger that is definitely NSFH (Not Safe For Homophobes). He’s like the inner child living within Juanga, Ricky Martin, Freddie Mercury and other queer artists who because of different circumstances had to mask, hide or delicately maneuver any sort of expression of queerness.

In the Lil Nas X “Industry Baby” video Lil Nas does what he does best, he drags us into his vision of an uncompromising fantasy of queerness and fearlessness. The vibe kicks off with Lil Nas X being sentenced to 5 years in Montero Prison, no doubt on account of his illegal sneakers, and what follows is a twerk-filled fest of a prison wilding out to this sickening vibe.

If we’re counting, I exhausted my capacity for “Yasss!” From the initial shots of Lil Nas X with two cut prisoners holding onto his inside-out pockets, to the colorful and high contrast shots of Lil Nas X rapping with a grill full of platinum through a prison phone system the video take prison stereotypes and clobbers them to death with a more artful queer vision of being locked up.

The video mixed with the lyrics which are the most explicit explanation of his artistic intentions thus far:

Lil Nas X “Industry Baby” Single

I got what they waiting for (I got what they’re waiting for)
I don’t run from nothing, dog
Get your soldiers, tell ’em I ain’t layin’ low (Bitch, I ain’t runnin’ from nowhere)
You was never really rooting for me anyway (Ooh, ooh)
When I’m back up at the top, I wanna hear you say (Ooh, ooh) – Lil Nas X “Industry Baby” Lyrics

Lil Nas X wasn’t hiding, waiting or scared… he was just on his own timeline doing his own thing and one of the most memorable lyrics is a great LGBTQ+ mantra for the new generations “You was never rooting for me anyway.”

The culture can take that attitude with them, where so many queer people are made to feel like they need to adapt, accommodate or censor their true selves, Lil Nas X brings up the most validating points of all… if they aren’t rooting for you anyway, then why even bother switching anything up?

The Lil Nas X video is below, after twerking on Satan, releasing the coolest most illegal sneaker ever… oh and by the way being the most successful country AND rap artist ever with his undeniable hit “Old Town Road” there is absolutely no stopping this fearless force to be reckoned with. In a perfect world, he’d be working with other uncompromising artists like Bad Bunny, Arca and maybe even Yeezy who produced this track… but we’ll have to wait and see just how far his debut album Montero will take him.

For now, lock your self up and break out of Montero prison with the brand new video for “Industry Baby” featuring jack Harlow, who by the way, give the heteros a little something to sing along to too.
