LeBron James may already have a problem with Philadelphia according to Dave Portnoy

  • The NBA superstar signed a two year veteran minimum contract worth eight million dollars with the Philadelphia 76ers.

  • Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy claimed online that the veteran forward refuses to stay in the city.

  • LeBron James chose to live in New York City and commute to daily team practices using a private helicopter.

The arrival of LeBron James to the Philadelphia 76ers made headlines across the NBA offseason, but his recent commuting choices are already generating public debate. The seasoned superstar joined the franchise on a two year deal worth eight million dollars, creating a formidable roster alongside Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. However, his decision to live outside Pennsylvania raised eyebrows among basketball fans and sports commentators alike.

Helicopter commutes from New York City

Rather than establishing a residence in Philadelphia, the future Hall of Famer opted to stay at his private penthouse in New York City. The basketball icon commutes to team practice sessions aboard a private helicopter, flying back to Manhattan immediately after completing his daily training. Images of the player stepping off the aircraft in New York quickly circulated on social media, prompting various reactions regarding his dedication to the local market.

Dave Portnoy taunts the City of Brotherly Love

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy took advantage of the situation by mocking the local fan base on platform X; the media personality joked that the superstar hates the city so much that he cannot spend more than thirty seconds there. While the comment gained traction online, observers noted that Portnoy is an outspoken Boston Celtics fan, a team that shares a long standing division rivalry with the 76ers following last season heated playoff battles.

Focus remains on championship goals

Despite the external noise generated by media personalities, the choice to reside in Manhattan reflects long standing lifestyle preferences rather than any personal issue with the city. The 76ers fanbase remains eager to see how the stacked starting lineup performs once the regular season officially begins. Team executives trust that the veteran leadership of the legendary forward will keep the squad fully focused on bringing a championship trophy back to the franchise.
