Your favorite Latino Artists’ Tattoos and What They Mean

As tattoos become increasingly popular among celebrities, many Latino stars have also jumped on board with the trend, making tattoos a prominent part of their image. From small and subtle designs to bold and intricate artwork, these tattoos represent different aspects of their lives, cultures, and personalities.

BAD BUNNY’S TATTOOS

One of the most high-profile Latino artists with tattoos is Bad Bunny. Known for his eclectic style, the Puerto Rican artist has several tattoos, mainly on his legs and around his arms. On his legs, he has several drawings including the Pokemon Go logo (made for the ‘Yonaguni’ music video), a chili pepper (which could be a reference to his relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Gabriela), the silhouette of Puerto Rico and the silhouette of a woman, the planet Saturn with the letter ‘B’  three times (representing his name and those of his siblings: Benito, Bernie, and Bysael), and a box with a crying moon inside. In addition to that, Benito has another tattoo of a moon with tears falling over a city.

On his arms and chest- as far as we have seen- he has a cross, a running rabbit, a cactus, a circle, an angel-like figure, and a sword, along many more. However, the tattoo that stands out the most and has caused quite a storm on social media is a realistic depiction of a woman’s eyes, rumored to be Gabriela’s, on his left forearm.

J BALVIN’S MANY TATTOOS

Meanwhile, we’ve lost count of how many tattoos J Balvin has. Now 37 years old, Balvin got his first ink done at the age of 12 and has since tattooed most of his body, including his face, neck, arms, chest, stomach, and knuckles. Some of these tattoos are a dollar sign, a tribal design, poker cards, a microphone, a rose, and a portrait of Mickey Mouse with an exposed skull, which was meant to portray the truth behind the famous mouse’s facade.

The Colombian musician also has four tigers on different parts of his body, which he has stated is his favorite animal. He displays various tattoos of women as well: the Virgin Mary, a woman with a crown of thorns, another woman looking straight at us, an indigenous woman, and a piece done in honor of his sister Carolina. He also has a large “Familia” tattoo written across his chest.

DUKI’S FACE TATTOOS

Another artist that has become well-known for his tattoos is Argentinian rapper Duki, who claims to have more than 30 in total. On his arms, he has the shape of a Queen and King from the poker deck, but he changed the Q and K for S and G, representing his parents’ names: Sandra and Guillermo. He also has a bear, which is his totemic animal, a Kin Maya, and the Versace logo in honor of one of his music idols, who had a song called “Medusa.” He also has a gun, the numbers 0600 and 0800 representing his producer and his jeweler, and samurai swords, among others. On the knuckles he has the word ‘Fuck’ on his right hand and ‘That’ on his left.

However, he is most famous for his face tattoos, especially his angel and devil wings below his eyes. He also has the Spider-Man logo, a “verified” logo, a 1996- the year he was born-, the word “love,” an olive branch, and a bat. His collection concludes with a phrase in Japanese that means ‘devil side’ and a sun as a symbol of light, and SSJ, which refers to Super Sangre Joven, one of his albums.

RAUW ALEJANDRO’S HYPER-REALISTIC TATTOOS

Rauw Alejandro got his first tattoo at 16- a Latin phrase that means “I war the sky”– and now has more than 30. One of his most striking pieces is the hyper-realistic tattoo of a wolf and a lion on his chest. His right arm is covered in tattoos related to Japan and anime, which is one of his passions, and on his right hand, he has a scorpion with a rose.

Located in the lower part of his torso, he has a pair of pistols facing each other and separated only by a large rose. Since one of his favorite tattoo themes is the sea, he has several symbols related to water tattooed, such as a seahorse on his forearm, a wave, seagulls on his side, and a compass.

KAROL G’S PHRASE TATTOOS

Karol G has several phrases tattooed on her body, including “Esto también pasará” on her left hand and “Véncete a ti misma” on the inside of her right arm, to help her feel motivated at all times. She also has a powerful message of faith: “Mi familia me hace humana, Dios me hace fuerte.” Some of her ink is in English as well; she has “Girl Power” tattooed on her left arm, “Hope” on her chest, and, on her forearm, the phrase “No regrets, just lessons learned.”

La Bichota also has a thorny heart on the back of her left arm, some roses on her left ankle, and a butterfly on her right arm. She also displays her brand logo on her skin, a billiard ball on her shoulder blade, and, on her hands, she has her date of birth and the country code for phoning her native Colombia (+57).

On her left wrist, she has the number 200 with the drawing of a drink, in reference to her song “200 Copas,” and on her right forearm, she has tattooed the faces of other artists who have inspired her: Rihanna, Selena Quintanilla… and herself.
