Bad Bunny and Gabriela Berlingeri: an Open Relationship or are they Just Friends?

Bad Bunny‘s ever-going rumors of him dating or kissing women —like the recent rumors of him hanging out with Kendall Jenner— never seem to cease. However, there’s one woman that continues to be in the life of the Puerto Rican megastar, Gabriela Berlingeri.

Bad Bunny has been photographed at parties flirting, dancing, and even kissing other women throughout all these years. But that doesn’t seem to bother Gabriela since the pair continues to appear together at events and photos, which led to the rumor that they have an open relationship.

Even though Bad Bunny has become an international star, being the most-listened-to artist on Spotify for three years straight and even being nominated for Best Album at the Grammys, he has been able to protect his relationship with Gabriela by keeping it a secret.

Gabriela, who is a Puerto Rican influencer and jewelry designer, met Benito in 2017 while having dinner with her family at a restaurant in their hometown after he appeared as a surprise guest at a Zion & Lennox concert. They started dating not long after, and the singer even revealed that she helped him record his collaboration with Jennifer Lopez, “Te Gusté.”

Their relationship was kept private for the next three years until they were seen together in public for the first time at the beginning of 2020 while watching a basketball game in Miami. Bad Bunny later revealed in an interview that he was “in love.”

And the rest is history. Throughout 2020, the couple started sharing little snippets of their love life on their respective Instagrams profiles, showing their followers some moments of their relationship. However, their social media debut as a bonafide couple was in March, when the singer shared a cute picture with Gabriela, followed by several videos of them together during the quarantine and a passionate kiss while on the set of the “Yo Perreo Sola” music clip.

Speaking of the pandemic, Bad Bunny released the song “En Casita” featuring Gabriela singing backup vocals. They also appeared along with other famous couples in the music video “Antes Que el Mundo Se Acaba” by Residente. They have even adopted a dog together!

During an interview for Rolling Stone, the singer talked about his relationship with Gabriela, who was the one who took the pictures that appeared on the cover of the magazine.

“Do people really think that I am going through the quarantine alone? No, I am with someone, she is very special in my life. This quarantine has made me understand that she is the best companion that I can have. I am happy with her. People do not know that she has helped me a lot in emotional aspects when I needed it most,” he stated in the interview.

Their official red carpet debut didn’t come until about a year later, after four years of dating, in 2021, when they walked together at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. By 2022, their relationship was no longer a secret, and they didn’t mind showing their love everywhere: TikTok, Instagram, Award shows, or even “marrying each other” in the “Titi Me Preguntó” music video.

However, Bad Bunny’s most significant demonstration of love came when he released “El Apagón,” a special single dedicated to Puerto Rico, where he had Gabriela sing the last words of the song. Benito stated that he chose his girlfriend and not a famous singer because “this is a song with the heart, and I wanted someone to sing it with love because it is a sincere message.”

She even sang the song live during a show in Mexico, along with Chencho Corleone, Mora, Bomba Estéreo, Jowell & Randy, and Jhay Cortez as surprise guests. 

In an emotional Instagram post she wrote: “Singing at the Azteca Stadium was something I never imagined doing in my life, much less daring. I don’t know how I did it, but I did it. I am grateful to the people who motivated me to achieve it because I couldn’t do it alone. ‘El Apagón’ is much more than a song; and the feeling and pride that I feel to be part of it is infinite. My voice is the voice of a tired person, but with great strength and courage to fight for what is ours.”

However, in July 2022, the artist was asked about his relationship and he denied that she was his girlfriend.

“Nobody knows, they just say Gabriela is your girlfriend, Gabriela is your wife. Nobody knows that we are best friends. If she wants to have a boyfriend tomorrow, she can have it. The same as me, if I want a girlfriend, I can have her because we are best friends,” he clarified.

Despite this, the singer had days prior spoken with Entertainment Tonight, where he admitted that he had feelings for the influencer. “Yes, I feel love. I’m in love,” he stated. Bad Bunny has been photographed at parties flirting, dancing, and even kissing other women throughout all these years. But that doesn’t seem to bother Gabriela since the pair continues to appear together at events and photos, which led to the rumor that they have an open relationship.

Gabriela celebrated her 29th birthday on December 29th, and not only did she receive a private Bad Bunny show at her party but also a cute Instagram post from the singer. And, even after every rumor, the singer showed his love for Gabriela by tattooing her eyes on her arm, which could be seen during his 2023 Grammys’ performance.
