Latino Actor Xolo Maridueña is the Diverse Future of Hollywood

Xolo Maridueña is a Latino actor of mixed Mexican, Cuban, and Ecuadorian descent. His breakout project is the American Web series titled Cobra Kai initially launched in YouTube Premium. He plays the role of Miguel Diaz in the martial arts-themed show. The massive character development of Miguel from shy underdog to confident competitor has won the hearts of many.

The success of the show opened windows for it to appear on another platform such as Netflix. As of date, Cobra Kai has 3 seasons with 10 episodes each. Another run is under production and is targeted to be released in December 2021.

Xolo’s Acting History and Future Projects:

Cobra Kai however is not Xolo’s first major venture into acting. Before the Karate Kid-inspired spin-off, he played the role of Victor Graham in the comedy-drama Parenthood. The actor claims that the show made him realize his love for acting. And from then on decided to pursue a career in it.

Xolo’s hard and diligent work in his acting craft was again rewarded this year. The charming 20-year-old Latino has been cast for the upcoming HBO max DC Comics movie Blue Beetle. He will be playing the role of Jaime Reyes. Jaime turns to the Blue Beetle after a scarab infused itself to his spine. The movie will be the first DC Films superhero that features a Latino character.

Xolo’s Personal Life:

Xolo Maridueña was born on June 9, 2001, in Los Angeles, California, United States. His family however has Latino roots originating from Mexican, Cuban, and Ecuadorian ethnicity.

The Cobra Kai star grew up in a family of five where he has two sisters named Oshun and Talia. His father works as a music producer while his mother is a radio host. Xolo’s upbringing is considered to be in the upper-middle-class.

He attended Cathedral High School in California. Since he was raised in an artistically inclined family, after graduating high school, Xolo joined Young Actors Space, California. He also briefly attended the New York Film Academy in 2020. Xolo associates and follows the religion of Christianity.

Before he seriously delved into acting, Xolo also considered being a chemist. He took several AP chemistry classes during high school. As the studies progressed, he decided that life is not for him. However, in the case that acting was not one of his options, Xolo thinks he could venture into the STEM field. Honestly, this bright handsome Latino is sure full of surprises.

Xolo’s Romantic Relationship:

Xolo dated Cobra Kai co-star Hannah Kepple back in 2019. The relationship was confirmed first by Kepple in an interview. They used to share videos and photos publicly until the two went their separate ways.

Xolo revealed in a YouTube interview for LATV Network that he is currently single. He notes that the quarantine protocols and his current work schedule are not ideal for building relationships. He claims that he is in no rush to date and will have to do with the company of his friends.

How is Xolo coping with Staying home?

The Latino actor shared in LATV Network that during this pandemic he is living alone. One of the biggest challenges for him is preparing food. Before Covid happened he would frequently eat out.

Now to sustain himself, he learned to cook. The handsome actor claims he is getting better at it. Xolo shares that he likes to make sushi, Korean kalbi, and chicken parmigiana.

Living alone and cooking also made him more cleanliness conscious. It is nice to know that despite these chaotic happenings, Xolo is managing to keep organized.
