Karol G is honored in the Spotify Billions Club: Eight anthems that define Latin music

Colombian singer Karol G has made history once again by becoming the first Latin female artist to have eight of her songs included in Spotify’s exclusive “Billions Club,” a milestone that marks her consolidation as one of the most streamed figures on the platform globally. Far from being a fleeting achievement, this recognition underscores the artist’s enduring relevance, as she continues to accumulate international triumphs following her recent win for Song of the Year at the Latin Grammys.

The map of a success over one billion

To celebrate this feat, Spotify dedicated a special episode of its ‘Billions The Series’ to the singer, where Karol G reviewed the genesis and impact of the eight tracks that surpassed one billion streams. The list of anthems includes hits from different eras such as Tusa, Provenza, China, Mamii, TQG, Amargura, Qlona, and Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido, each representing a key moment in her artistic evolution. During the New York recording, the artist received the commemorative plaque, displayed alongside the other seven that reaffirm her superstar status.

Celebrating sisterhood and connection

Karol G was quick to acknowledge the value of her collaborations, highlighting her work with essential female figures in the industry. Regarding TQG, her track with Shakira, the colombian artist was visibly moved: “I grew up listening to Shakira’s music, watching how a woman from my country could take our flag to every corner… To have that vision as a child and then see her on a set recording with me, it was out of this world.” Similarly, discussing Mamii, recorded with Becky G, she emphasized that the genuine friendship she built with her colleague made the song’s success “super magical.” The singer also highlighted the audacity and liberation of her album Mañana será bonito (Bichota Season), from which Qlona emerged, a song designed to make women feel “a chimba” (amazing) while getting ready and dancing.

Thank you for these eight billion streams, thank you for following me and connecting with me,” Karol G expressed. Her message reaffirms her place not only as a leading figure in the urban genre but as one of the colombian voices with the greatest global projection, solidifying her success with exceptional numbers and an undeniable emotional bond with her audience.
