Bad Bunny Leads the 2022 Latin Grammys with 10 nominations

Bad Bunny Leads the 2022 Latin Grammys with 10 nominations

He’s already a favorite for the night of November 17th, when the 23rd edition of the Latin Grammys will take place in the Michelob Ultra Arena, Las Vegas. Bad Bunny, also recently named Apple Music’s Artist of the Year thanks to the success of his Un Verano Sin Ti album, the biggest Latin album of all time in the platform, is accumulating a wide array of career milestones.

The global recording artist, known as El Conejo Malo has 10 nominations for the Latin Grammys, followed by Mexican songwriter Edgar Barrera with nine, and Rauw Alejandro and Rosalía with eight, respectively (making the Spanish artist the top female nominee this year).

The Conejo Malo has been nominated in the following categories:

  • Record of the Year for his song “Ojitos Lindos”, performed with Bomba Estéreo
  • Album of the Year for Un Verano Sin Ti
  • Two in Best Urban Fusion/Performance for “Volví” with Aventura, and “Titi me preguntó”
  • Two in Best Reggaeton Performance for “Yonaguni”, and “Lo siento BB” with Tainy & Julieta Venegas
  • Best Urban Music Album for Un Verano Sin Ti
  • Best Rap/Hip Hop Song for “De museo”
  • Two again for Best Urban Song for “Lo siento BB” with Tainy & Julieta Venegas, and “Titi me preguntó.”

How many awards does Bad Bunny have far?

We’ll have to wait a few days to find of if these nominations turn into awards, but since he’s been nominated twice in three different categories, it’s safe to say that he’ll get at least one other Latin Grammy to add to the four he already has: Best Urban Music in 2021 for “X 100pre,” Best Reggaeton Performance in 2020 for “Yo perreo sola,” Best Urban Music Album in 2021 for “El último tour del mundo,” and Best Rap/Hip Hop Song in 2021 for “Booker T.” On top of that he also has two Grammy awards: Best Latin Pop or Urban Album in 2021 for “YHLQMDLG,” and Best Urban Music in 2022 for “El último tour del mundo.”

The Puerto Rican singer has already won 9 Billboard Latin Music Awards this year: Artist of the Year (third time in a row); Tour of the Year; Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Male; Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Male; Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year, Solo; Songwriter of the Year; Tropical Song of the Year for “Volví” with Aventura; Top Latin Album of the Year for Un Verano Sin Ti, and Latin Rhythm Album of the Year for Un Verano Sin Ti. And two Billboard Music Awards as Top Latin Artist and Top Latin Male Artist.

Since he rose to popularity in 2016 with his song “Diles,” the 28 year old Latin trap and reggaeton artist has received 292 nominations and has won 130 awards. More importantly, he’s earned the love of his fans, thanks to his music, spontaneity and defiance of traditional gender roles. He has also shown time and time again his love and commitment to his home country, Puerto Rico.

For the upcoming Latin Grammy awards, there’s one thing we can be sure of: his outfit won’t go unnoticed, and he’ll more than likely put a huge smile on our faces.
