Why are Bad Bunny’s songs so successful?

If we say the name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, it’s likely almost no reader knows who we are talking about. Nor if we add the fact that he was born in Almirante Sur, Vega Baja. But if we say his artistic name, it is almost impossible that nowadays in the Latino world there is someone who does not know who he is

That is because “Bad Bunny” has become one of the most resonant artists inn the music scene. He is a rapper, singer and songwriter, he was born in Puerto Rico on March 10, 1994 and is currently growing nonstop, mainly doing Latin trap and reggaeton but also dabbling in rock, kizomba and soul.

To be more precise, Bad Bunny is already the artist of the year in the lists of the main music players worldwide, like Spotify, and is the great winner of the Billboard Latin Music Awards during its latest edition. There, he won 10 of the 22 awards he was up for as a finalist, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Dákiti,” and Album of the Year for his album “YHLQMDLG”. Bad Bunny songs are always on the podium and everything he does sounds and spreads quickly on the different platforms.

There are many examples that make us know the kind of artist that Bad Bunny is. In 2020, the Puerto Rican reggaetonero, who is the oldest of three brothers, named Bernie and Bysael, became the first Latin artist to be the most played on Spotify. And in 2021, at just 27 years old, Bad Bunny was among the 100 most influential people in the world in Time magazine.

Both last year and 2022, the projection that El Conejo Malo has at his young age is to continue growing and creating songs that are heard all over the world.

It’s because of how well he’s doing with his latest studio album, “Un verano sin ti.” After launching it, it was positioned as the album with the most reproductions in one week in the entire history of Spotify.

The Spotify  list is a compilation in which the most popular albums in the United States are classified, taking into account sales and reproduction criteria, among others key factors. Bad Bunny has managed to lead the list again this July 2022.

About Bad Bunny´s songs origins

Bad Bunny songs began to become known through the SoundCloud platform, which helped him getdiscovered and gain recognition thanks to his song “Diles.” After that, even a very short time later, he signed with a record label, at the same time that he worked in a supermarket as a packager and studied Audiovisual Communication at the University of Puerto Rico.

It was in 2016 when he really rose to fame with his single “Soy Peor” and with the collaborations he did with the artists Cardi B and Drake in the singles “I Like It” and “Mia,” which reached the first and third place on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, respectively. Just two years later, in 2018, his debut studio album “X 100pre” won the Latin Grammy for Best Urban Music Album. It was there that the artist’s work became part of the list of the 500 best music albums of all time, according to Rolling Stone magazine.

The successes of Bad, the son of a Lysaurie teacher and a truck driver named Tito, have grown over the years. In 2019, he, together with the Colombian artist J Balvin, made the album Oasis, with songs like “Qué Pretendes” and “La Canción,” which sounded full everywhere.

At the beginning of 2020, who from the ages of 5 to 13 was part of his church choir, sang at Super Bowl LIV with Shakira and became the first Latin urban artist to be on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Despite the pandemic, that same year he released his second album “YHLQMDLG” and also his third, called “The Last World Tour.” The latter became the first complete album in Spanish to reach the top of the Billboard 200 list and was positioned with “Dakiti,” which was number one on the Billboard Global 200 list.

All Bad Bunny history shows once again that the success of the Puerto Rican has no limits and that his music goes further and further.
