Latino celebrity and cultural icons to inspire this year’s Halloween costume

We’re less than a week away from one of the most entertaining holidays of the year. No matter our age, Halloween always connects us with that inner child who just wants to go out and have fun (while wearing a costume, of course!). The last day of October is geared to merely having fun… and lots of it.

An essential part of Halloween is dressing like someone, or something, else. There are some traditional Halloween Costume options, like witches and sorcerers, vampires and zombies, anything that’s seems scary. But you can also choose your favorite Latino celebrity, pick one of their outfits and pretend to be them for a night. Let’s take a look at some of these, and don’t worry if you don’t look exactly like them- you can still have a good laugh about it!

Bad Bunny costume ideas

Let’s start with how to dress like Bad Bunny for Halloween, because the possibilities are endless. As you may have seen, he’s always wearing what he wishes, without caring what others think. He enjoys making fun of himself! Here’s an excellent example of that: he dressed up as the sun for the music video of his song “Neverita,” in reference the part where he sings: “dejame untarte el sunblock pa que no te queme” (“let me put sunblock on you so you don’t get a sunburn”).

And here’s another option for another Bad Bunny outfit: wear anything you like, as he firmly believes clothes have no gender. For example, in January he wore a pink dress and high heels for Jacquemus’ summer campaign. You can also get inspired by his latest Harper Bazaar’s cover.

How to dress like JLo, Cardi B and other empowered Latinas

Jennifer Lopez

Who doesn’t want to look like her? This is the total black ensemble she chose for the MTV Awards this year. And there are three things that make it perfect for this celebration: the color, the leather and the smokey eye makeup. You can even add some fake blood if you want to make it more Halloweenish!

Cardi B

Here’s another option if you like the color red and feathers, and want to look fabulous. The rapper wore this dress for an Instagram post on her 30th birthday, which was just a few weeks ago.

Selena Quintanilla

If you’re looking to honor Latin music icons such as Selena, then this burgundy outfit she wore on one of her last tours would be an exceptional choice.

Eva Longoria

If you prefer something a little more on the classier side, you can choose this stunning black attire worn by the actress, producer and director.

Vicente Fernandez outfit for Halloween

And, of course, we can’t forget this Mexican singer, who has been brought to the spotlight once again thanks to the Netflix’s series “Vicente Fernandez, El Rey.” Choosing one of his attires would be a fun way to play tribute to both him and to your Latin ancestry.

Embrace your Hispanic heritage with a La Llorona costume

Just a few days ago we were still celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time that acknowledges the contribution of Hispanic ancestors to the culture and history of the U.S. It’s a way to visualize the role that the combination of different languages, cultures, educational backgrounds and experiences have played in the wealth of this country. So, if you want to honor a scary Mexican legenda while dressing scary at the same time, you can choose the traditional “La Llorona.”
