Avatar: The Last Airbender Netflix Cast Reveal!

Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action remake is coming to Netflix streaming and the legacy of the anime demands a cast that can live up to the hype that was not fulfilled by other attempts at the beloved series. The cast includes both established screen icons and some newcomers. Fans of series such as Hulu’s PEN15 and Lost in Space will see some of their favorite actors sprinkled throughout the cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action on Netflix.

George Takei

George Takei is a pop culture legend who is known all over the world for his work on “Star Trek.” This famed actor is going to play Koh from the Spirit World. Takei is going to add his voice exclusively to the role. Koh is a spirit from long ago who has rather exploitative traits. Takei has had quite a lot on his plate with his acting career as of late. He appeared on “Oni: Thunder God’s Tale” in 2022 for one episode in total. This is an animated television show that delves into mythology from Japan.

Gordon Cormier

The actor from Lost in Space will play the iconic role of Aang the literal actual last Airbender.

Amber Midthunder

Amber Midthunder is going to portray Princess Yue of the Water Tribe. This is a kind character who knows how to guide groups of people effectively. The actress recently wrapped up three years on “Roswell,” the science-fiction television program.

Meegwun Fairbrother

Meegwun Fairbrother is set to play Avatar Kuruk. Kuruk is an earlier Avatar who has a rather mysterious and disturbing background. This Canadian actor just acted on the television program “DJ Burnt Bannock.” He appeared on the show for a single episode as Officer Smith.

A Martinez

A Martinez is going to play Pakku. Pakku is a highly seasoned waterbending guru. He’s a member of the Northern Water Tribe as well. He devotes a lot of time to safeguarding the timeless practices of his people. Martinez was on a television show called “Cowboy Bebop” for one episode back in 2021. He portrayed Stax on the adventurous comedy series.

Joel Oulette

Joel Oulette stars as Hahn, a powerful fighter who is beyond dedicated to his tribe. Oulette recently starred in “Jeffrey’s Turn,” a drama film.

Irene Bedard

Irene Bedard is going to play Yagoda, a gentle healer who sets a positive example for others. Bedard played Mary Singing Crow in the dramatic “On Sacred Ground” film in 2022.

Nathaniel Arcand

Nathaniel Arcand is going to grace the screen as the revered Chief Arnook. He’s a dad who is at the helm of his tribe. Arcand not long ago finished filming for “Ties That Bind,” an upcoming thriller.

Arden Cho

Arden Cho is going to light up the show as June. This character is a relentless, capable bounty hunter who has a reputation for getting things done no matter what. Cho recently was in a thriller film by the name of “Flexx.” Her role was that of R.O.S.A. Agent Ogawa.

Utkarsh Ambudkar

Utkarsh Ambudkar is going to star as King Bumi, the man who watches closely over Omashu, the city that’s part of the Earth Kingdom. Ambudkar was recently on a fantasy television series called “Ghosts” for a couple of years. He played Jay for a total of 20 episodes.

Danny Pudi

Danny Pudi is going to star as the quirky mechanist. This character is an engineer and inventor who works tirelessly to rear his youngster in the midst of chaotic and often dangerous surroundings. Pudi starred on the television show “Transformers: Earthpark ” in 2022.

James Sie

James Sie is going to portray the patient earth merchant. This character sells vegetables for a living. Sie recently was a voice actor on “The Monkey King. ” This animated flick is set for a 2023 release date.

Lucian-River Chauhan

Lucian-River Chauhan will play Teo, the mechanist’s wide-eyed and highly driven son. This young actor starred as Jay Khan in “Encounter” in 2021. This is a sci-fi thriller movie.

Momona Tamada

Momona Tamada is going to play Ty Lee of the Fire Nations. This character is a spirited teenager who is extremely close to Princess Azula. Tamada was in the action-comedy film “Secret Headquarters” as Maya in 2022.

Hiro Kanagawa

Hiro Kanagawa is going to be on the show as Fire Lord Sozin. This is the shrewd, tenacious individual who used to be in charge of the Fire Nation. Kanagawa filmed an episode of “Shogun,” a historical television miniseries that’s coming out in 2023.

Thalia Tran

Thalia Tran is going to be Mai, a blank teenager who is practically impossible to fluster. She’s has a rock-solid relationship with Princess Azula. Tran added her voice to “Raya and the Last Dragon” in 2021. She played Little Noi in the animated film.

Ruy Iskandar

Ruy Iskandar is going to act as Lieutenant Jee. This is a ship first officer who works under Prince Zuko. Iskandar was part of the cast of “Yes Day” in 2021. This is a family comedy film.

Ryan Mah

Ryan Mah is going to star as Lieutenant Dang, This character works right under Commander Zhao. Mah acted in a 2022 romantic drama about sports called “Golden Delicious.” He portrayed George in the movie.

Francois Chau

Francois Chau is going to act as the highly praised Great Sage. This is the Fire Nation’s spiritual guide of sorts. The Great Sage also happens to be the individual who looks after the shrine of Avatar Roku. Chau appeared on the television show “American Gigolo” for four episodes total in 2022. He played Don Clyborne on the crime series.

C.S. Lee

C.S. Lee is going to light up the screen as the previously mentioned Avatar Roku. Avatar Roku is a knowledgeable and harmless earlier Avatar who is a part of the Fire Nation. Lee was on a television show called “East New York” in 2022. He starred as Sergeant Jimmy Kee on a single episode of the drama series.

Randall Duk Kim

Randall Duk Kim, last but not least, is going to add his voice to the show as Wan Shi Tong. This character materializes as an enormous owl. It’s not just a huge bird, either. Wan Shi Tong has a reputation for being the distinctive Spirit of Knowledge. The actor acted in “The Boys Presents: Diabolical” in 2022. He was John on a single episode of the animated television short.

Avatar: Last Airbender Original Creators Left

In an open letter, one of the original creators, Michael Dante DiMartino, who had signed on to develop the series for Netflix with Bryan Konietzko had this to say about the duo leaving the project.

“When Bryan and I signed on to the project in 2018, we were hired as executive producers and showrunners. In a joint announcement for the series, Netflix said that it was committed to honoring our vision for this retelling and to supporting us on creating the series. And we expressed how excited we were for the opportunity to be at the helm. Unfortunately, things did not go as we had hoped.” – Michael Dante DiMartino

With the outstanding cast announcement, we can only hope that the live-action series will do the beloved anime some justice… or at least a little more than the shameful rendition by M.Night Shamylan.

Avatar: Last Airbender Netflix Release Date
