TV Host Adamari Lopez Embracing Motherhood and Body Positivity

Adamari López has become one of the most beloved actresses and TV hosts in Latin America. Having gone through some very difficult moments in her life, she is now a strong, independent woman, a mother, and a body positivity referent in the industry.

Who is Adamari López?
Adamari was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico, where she began her career as an actress when she was just six years old. She participated in the soap opera ‘Cristina Bazán’ produced by Telemundo Puerto Rico.
Three years later, she starred in the series Yo Sé Que Mentía and made some guest appearances on other television programs. After finishing college, she immersed herself fully into acting as a career path.
She then left Puerto Rico to begin a successful career in Mexico, where she starred in famous TV shows and soap operas such as Amigas y Rivales, Mujer, Casos de la Vida Real, and Mujer de Madera.
What happened to Adamari?
When Adamari López was at the peak of her career, she was hit with some devastating news: in 2004, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. This led her to put her professional career on hold and focus on her health. After going through painful treatments and several surgeries, in 2006, she was finally declared cancer-free. Slowly, she began to smile and enjoy life again.
Adamari started dating Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2004, and they married in 2006. The relationship was so strong that he even called off his scheduled international tour in 2005 to be beside her through her battle with cancer. However, in 2009, they announced that their marriage had come to an end.
The actress then went back to her career, starring in hit shows such as Bajo las Riendas del Amor, Alma de Hierro, Un Nuevo Día,’and Mira Quien Baila, where she met Toni Costa, her most recent partner, with whom she had a daughter, Alaïa. However, after eleven years together, their relationship came to an end.

Adamari’s body positivity
Throughout her career, López has gone through several weight changes that led her to receive many hateful comments. However, she has always promoted self-acceptance and has shown off her figure without caring what people say.
A couple of years ago, Adamari used to show off her natural curves on her social media, wearing bikinis or revealing outfits with no makeup on, showing herself as she is, even at the risk of being criticized for her weight. She always presented herself with the confidence that one certain beauty standard does not define her beauty.
In 2021, López started working with the program ‘Weight Watchers,’ an organization that offers weight loss and maintenance, physical activities, and psychological support with the help of a comprehensive plan and a coach. She showed her progress through social media, giving eating tips, exercises, and positive thoughts. She was able to shed a total of 15 kilos- about 33 pounds- after a lot of effort, dedication, and sacrifice.

After her pregnancy and weight loss, Adamari has shared several pictures of her loose skin and stretch marks. “I don’t have a complex of who I am,” she stated after receiving criticism.
However, many admirers have applauded her for expressing self-love. “Beautiful, real, brave. All my admiration!!!,” “Naturally beautiful. Now at 51 years old, Adamari López has implemented an intense exercise routine that allows her to maintain her weight and show off a toned and strengthened figure. The Telemundo host leads a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet from all the different food groups. Adamari has become a body-positivity referent on social media, as she shows her progress even on the most difficult days.
