It’s hard to talk about good or bad movies, because a lot depends on everyone’s personal preference and expectations. That’s why we first say that, if you’re a fan of action movies, you should watch “The Gray Man.” Let’s start by mentioning that the main characters are Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Cuban-Spanish actress, Ana de Armas. Also, that it is the most expensive film, so far produced by Netflix, which ensures that they have not spared effort in scenes of persecutions, explosions, and damage in general.

The directors are the Russo brothers, who also directed Captain America and the Winter Soldier, Captain America Civil War, Avengers Infinity War and Avengers End Game. And, if you want to consider the opinions of others, on the opening weekend it became the most watched film on the streaming platform in 92 countries.

Now, what is The Gray Man film about?

It tells the story of a CIA agent, Court Gentry or “Sierra Six” (Ryan Gosling) who, on a mission, discovers that another agent is corrupt. Knowing this information causes that a former member of the agency, Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), begins a pursue to kill him. Luckily, Sierra Six will have the support of a CIA operative, Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas), and his recruiter, Donald Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton).

What does this movie offer? Two hours of pure action, with all the condiments to keep the viewer very entertained, wonderful locations and some twists in the script, so that it is not too predictable.

The film became the most expensive Netflix has ever produced and replaced the one that, until now, held that title: Red Notice, another action film, starring Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Gal Gadot. The public gave their support to “The Gray Man” and the platform has already announced that a sequel is coming, starring Ryan Gosling as the main character again, also directed by the Russo brothers and the script will be written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.

Jessica Henwick, Regé-Jean Page, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Dhanush and Alfre Woodard are part of the cast.

The directors are the brothers Anthony and Joe Russo and the script, an adaptation of the novel by Mark Greaney, is the responsibility of Joe Russo, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The film was released in theaters on July 15th and, a week later, on Friday, July 22nd, had its debut on Netflix. With the favorable results in terms of audience it was to be expected that it would have a sequel; especially since the novel of the same name on which it was based, is part of a series of 12 books in total -the last one will be published in 2023-, so there is plenty of material to lock down a saga.
