LATV Special: Top Summer Movies to Watch Now!

This summer has been full of new (ahem, Covid cases)…but also some pretty good movie releases! On our movie special Andres Palencia and myself got to talk about the top seven movies that are out this Summer! Let’s check them out:
- Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers: A comeback 30 years in the making, “Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers” catches up with the former Disney Afternoon television stars in modern-day Los Angeles in a hybrid of live-action/CG animated action-comedy. The movie stars John Mulaney, Andy Samberg and KiKi Layne, and features the voices of Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Tress MacNeille, Tim Robinson, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, and Chris Parnell.
- Another movie that broke records was The Father of the Bride; the remake of the endearing 90’s movie with a Latin flavour, is hitting records on HBO Max.
- On Disney + we have Rise, the story about the Antetokounmpo’s’ brothers and how they succeed despite the many obstacles. A very feel good movie about accomplishing your dreams if you truly want it and work hard for them.
- Stargirl in Hollywood, is another movie about accomplishing your dreams, this time though in Tinseltown. A very cute snackable movie to watch this summer!
- If you are into board games, then Gatlopp is going to be a great choice for you. Set up in a house in Venice Beach, California, this contained scify comedy will make drinking games a more interesting experience.
- For all animation fans out there, you can also watch Lightyear. A spinoff of Toy Story with the toy that inspired Andy to get Buzz Lightyear. Just make sure you don’t go to watch it expecting it to be about Buzz Lightyear, because you will be disappointed then.
- And last but not least, for all the superheroes fans, we have Thor: Love and Thunder. With an impressive box office on it’s first weekend and not so much the following ones, this is an interesting movie to watch. With a lot of Taika’s sense of humor, it is a hit or miss, depending who you ask. If you ask me, it’s a hit, but with some extra moments.
