Rachel Zegler to Play Snow White in Live Action Remake

Rachel Zegler, who will be seen as Maria in West Side Story, has also been cast as Snow White in the next live-action adaptation of the Disney classic inspired by the Brothers Grimm fairytale, with Marc Webb directing and Marc Platt producing.

Shortly after she was announced as the movie’s lead, Zegler tweeted “I HAVE MANIFESTED MY ENTIRE LIFE I THINK I THINK.” She also shared a video on Twitter meeting the Disney princess with the caption, “homegirl we have LOTS to catch up on.”

“Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale,” Webb said in a statement to the press.

Casting a Latina for this role, along with Halle Bailey to play Ariel in The Little Mermaid, shows that Disney is heading in the right direction in terms of diversifying its Disney Princesses, and we hope to see more of that.

There is no word yet on when exactly Snow White will hit theaters, but we hope the wait isn’t too long! It will be interesting to see if both Snow White and The Little Mermaid live action remakes live up to the legacy of their original counterparts.
