Meet The Vega dynasty’s newest star: Ramón Vega
Born in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, 19-year-old Ramón is a member of the Vega musical dynasty. This family is well-known for its excellence in northern Mexican music, including artists like Cornelio Vega and Su Dinastía, which was founded by Ramón’s father, Cornelio, and his older brother, Cornelio Jr., serves as the lead vocalist. The family also includes his late uncle, Sergio Vega, affectionately known as “El Shaka,” who was a prominent figure in the music scene.

As the third of four brothers—Cornelio, Valentín, Ramón, and Santiago—Ramón grew up in a musical environment that naturally drew him to the art. His passion for music began at the young age of five when he started learning to play the accordion and guitar. Influenced by popular artists like Bruno Mars, Keyshia Cole, and Justin Bieber, Ramón has integrated lyrical spontaneity and pop and R&B influences into his own style. Among Latin artists, he admires his brother and father, as well as icons like Luis Miguel and Alejandro Sanz. Ramón describes his sound as a revolution, blending regional Mexican music with urban sounds, trap, reggae, and R&B.
By the age of seven, Ramón was already making covers, and at 14, during the pandemic, he began writing songs that would form the foundation of his first EPs: 2000 Siempre and La Nueva R, showing his deep connection to regional Mexican music while also including a unique fusion of various genres.

Ramón’s debut EP, 2000 Siempre, marked the beginning of a promising career. He continued to build on this success with his next EP, La Nueva R, which includes seven tracks that explore different genres such as trap, R&B, regional, and urban pop. Ramón collaborated with his older brother Cornelio Jr. on this project, recording at home during the pandemic, which allowed them to experiment creatively.
His career has been further solidified with the release of his album Pa’ Ti, featuring collaborations with Christian Nodal on “dEsANiMaO :(” and Michelle Maciel on “eScoRpiÓn.” Ramón’s latest singles include “Otro Bote,” “Algo Bien,” and “La Mexicana,” which continue to showcase his innovative sound and genuine approach to music.

During our interview, we got a glimpse of Ramón’s personality and preferences. When asked how he prepares his coffee, he shared, “I prepare my coffee with soy milk. I also like to add caramel when I buy it. At home, when I’m with my dad and my mom, my dad makes me coffee, and I have my cup with my parents.”
We also asked Ramón about his favorite tacos. He recommended, “There is a taqueria in Obregón called El Asadero La Casita. Those tacos are another thing, really. They have roasted meat, the tortilla is bigger, the sauce is pure quality, and they also have freshly made beans with carnitas and cheese.” He also chose red sauce over green sauce.
As for his travel essentials, Ramón keeps it simple: “Well, the headphones. I don’t really use much. Bringing my headphones, my phone, and gum is fine. I like to chew gum all the time. I’ve thought about buying a Nintendo Switch so I don’t get bored.”
In a lighter moment, Ramón shared his thoughts on winning hearts: “When they surprise you. Imagine being given a kiss, and you don’t expect it. It could fall very quickly.”
We also asked Ramón about his favorite song to sing in karaoke. He enthusiastically replied, “There is a medley that Karim León made from a group from Sonora called Apache, and I play that every time I get up and go to bathe. It lasts like 11 minutes, and I get in the car, and I’m listening to that all day too. But they are pure cumbias.”
Finally, Ramón shared a funny story about the worst compliment he has ever given: “I think that telling a woman something like ‘Teach me everything I don’t know’.” To sum up, Vega described his music in one word and he summarized it as “genuine.”
