Tim Burton to Direct Netflix Addams Family series ‘Wednesday”

Streaming is going to get a lot spookier with the return of The Addams Family to Netflix, and it’s Tim Burton who gets to direct the live-action reboot. “Wednesday” is an eight-episode series on Netflix which will focus on the daughter of Gomez and Morticia. Wednesday Addams will be on the good side of the juju as a student at an elite academy where she will sleuth a 25-year-old mystery to try to put an end to a killing spree. Netflix did a “killer” job rebooting “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” into a teen drama series, we’re just hoping this is a little less Riverdale and a little more Scissorhands. 

We’ll keep you updated on the “Wednesday” Netflix cast and release date as it’s announced. 

This will be the first time Tim Burton directs for TV, so we’re excited to see if he can bring some of the magic of “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Beetlejuice” or “Edward Scissorhands” to the series. 

It’s yet to be seen how the series will work in their diversity strategy, but The Addams family has always had a distinctly Latino vibe to it anyway.
