Tigres set to part ways with another player ahead of the winter transfer window

After Sebastián Córdova’s departure, Tigres are preparing to let go of another key player before the winter transfer market opens.

According to multiple reports in Mexico, Uriel Antuna’s days with Tigres are numbered. The winger has failed to earn the trust of head coach Guido Pizarro, who has already given the green light for the club to listen to offers in the coming months.

A transfer that never paid off

Tigres spent just over $7 million to sign Antuna a few transfer windows ago, expecting him to become a consistent attacking threat. Instead, his time in Monterrey has been far from productive. Across all competitions, he’s played 42 matches, registering only one goal and three assists, a poor return for a player with his price tag and reputation.

The club already tried to move him last summer, but there were no serious offers from Liga MX or abroad. Now, sources close to the team say Tigres will push harder to find him a new destination, even if it means taking a financial loss.

The veterans still carry the load

Recent seasons have exposed Tigres’ growing dependence on their veteran core. Despite heavy spending in the transfer market, the club has struggled to integrate younger signings into the starting lineup.

Antuna’s situation reflects a broader issue within the squad: expensive signings failing to meet expectations. With Córdova already gone and Antuna now on the transfer list, the front office seems ready to reset parts of the roster heading into 2026.

What’s next for Tigres

Tigres are expected to be active in the winter window, looking for players that better fit Pizarro’s system and budget. Cutting Antuna’s high salary would free up space for new additions, while also sending a clear message, performance will matter more than reputation moving forward.
