The Alan Pulido chase begins and one club wants him early

Alan Pulido’s chapter at Chivas is reaching its final page. With no renewal on the table and his contract expiring in December, the striker is set to leave Guadalajara as a free agent, and one Liga MX giant has already stepped into the front of the line.

According to TVC Deportes, Pumas UNAM are advancing talks for Pulido, positioning themselves to land the veteran forward in the winter window at zero transfer cost, a classic low-risk, high reward bet.

Why Pulido is out and why Pumas want him?

Chivas have a new star up front, and that changes everything. 22-year-old Armando González has exploded onto the scene with 10 goals, just one behind scoring leaders Paulinho and Joao Pedro. With “El Charal” thriving and Javier “Chicharito” Hernández already in the building, Pulido has become expendable.

For Pumas? It’s need meets opportunity.

Their No. 1 striker target got hurt, they failed to land a foreign forward, and José Juan Macías, once nearly retired, has been forced into the spotlight. The attack needs stability, experience and depth. Pulido brings:

  • Liga MX pedigree

  • Championship DNA

  • Physical readiness

  • Zero transfer fee

Is he the same Pulido who lifted Chivas to glory? No. But for a striker-starved club still in the playoff fight, this move checks every pragmatic box.

Talks underway, but not done yet

Negotiations are open. Pumas see value. Pulido sees minutes. Chivas see a clean exit. One thing is already confirmed: there will be no extension in Guadalajara. Pulido walks, and his next jersey may very well be blue and gold.

The winter window in Liga MX is already heating up. And this one might be the first domino.
