Snoop Dogg’s Latino Connection Goes Beyond Lowriders

Snoop Dogg’s Latino Connection Goes Beyond Lowriders

Snoop Dogg, Latino rappers and Lowriders

Snoop Dogg rose to fame in the early ’90s during the West Coast G-funk era of Hip-Hop. During this same era came the legendary Hip-Hop group Cypress Hill, which had two latino rappers – B-Real and Sen Dog. Snoop Dogg and other West Coast Hip-Hop artists helped popularize Latino culture with the inclusion of lowriders. Lowriders date back to the late 1940s, where Mexican-Americans would modify cars to express themselves in a way that would go against traditional norms – the culture has even stretched as far as Japan.

Snoop Dogg was part of the movement that glorified and cemented lowriders into popular culture in the 1990’s. Ever since then, Snoop Dogg has been a constant supporter of Latino culture. He’s been seen on multiple occasions giving shoutouts to different Banda songs, so it’s no surprise that he’s making the leap toward collaborating with Latino rappers more.
