What to Watch this September on Netflix

With September just around the corner, Netflix has announced its long-awaited list of new arrivals. New movies, series, and new and final seasons are dropping on the platform. LATV has put together a compilation of some of these productions to add to next month’s must-watch list.

Disenchantment (Part 5) – September 1st

Matt Groening’s animated fantasy comedy Disenchantment is finally coming to an end. The show follows the adventures of a hard-drinking princess, her elf companion, and her personal demon.

Netflix’s official synopsis of the fifth season states: “It all endeth here. The misadventures of hard-hitting, hard-drinking Queen Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci culminate in an epic battle for Dreamland.”

“To save Dreamland from Queen Dagmar’s wicked rule, Bean must vanquish her mother and outrun a prophecy that foretells she will kill someone she loves. The stakes are as high as ever as our heroes face Satan, a headless corpse, an evil scientist, and most terrifying of all- their true destiny.”

Love Again – September 2nd

This romantic comedy movie stars Sam Heughan and Priyanka Chopra-Jonas. While trying to get over the loss of her fiancé, Mira Ray sends a series of romantic messages to her old phone number… unaware that the number had been reassigned to Rob Burns’ new work phone.

Rob, a journalist, is surprised by the honesty of the text messages. When assigned to write an article about megastar Celine Dion, he asks for her help in figuring out how to meet Mira in person…and win her heart.

Netflix’s feel-good drama series has returned. The fifth season will pick up right where it left off at the end of the fourth, with Mel and Jack finally getting engaged, and confirming that he is the biological father of their daughter. Expect to see an intense court trial, new relationships, and a wildfire that threatens to destroy the entire town.

Ehrengard: The Art of Seduction – September 14th

A new, prestige romantic comedy from Academy Award, Golden Globe, and two-time Palme d’Or winner Bille August. Set in the fairytale kingdom of Babenhausen, the Grand Duchess asks young Cazotte, an expert in love, to help her find a match for her son.

Cazotte will try to find a suitable princess while instructing the shy, introverted crown prince in the art of seduction and carnal love. But his plan soon goes awry when the royal family must move. It is then that Cazotte meets Ehrengard, and everything he knew about love and seduction will become obsolete.

Based on Jennifer E. Smith’s novel, this romantic drama stars Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy.

After missing her flight from New York to London, Hadley meets Oliver by chance at the airport, and they are instantly attracted to each other. The night on the plane goes by in the blink of an eye, but upon landing at Heathrow, the two are separated, and meeting again in the middle of the chaotic airport seems like an impossible task. Will fate intervene so that these seatmates become life partners?

Sex Education (Season 4) – September 21th

This British raunch-com, which follows a couple of teens dealing with their fears, curiosities, and concerns about sex, is coming to an end. The fourth and final season of this excellent British school comedy sees Otis and the gang now attending Cavendish Sixth Form College.

Otis is nervous about setting up his new sex clinic, while Eric prays they don’t become losers again. But Cavendish is a culture shock for all Moordale students; they thought they were progressive, but this new school is on another level. There’s daily yoga in the community garden, a strong sustainability vibe, and a group of guys who are popular for being…nice?

Viv is drawn to the non-competitive, student-led approach, while Jackson continues to struggle to get over Cal. Aimee tries something new by taking an art course, and Adam tries to figure out if mainstream education is for him. In the United States, Maeve lives her dream at the prestigious Wallace University, where she receives classes from the writer Thomas Molloy. Otis pines for her as he adjusts to not being the only child at home, nor the only therapist on campus…

Love is Blind (Season 5) – September 22nd

Like past seasons, viewers can expect to meet a brand new cast of 30 singles—15 men and 15 women—looking to try the experiment themselves. They’ll go on blind pod dates with their fellow contestants, hoping to make lasting connections—one of which will hopefully lead to an engagement, and, even better, marriage.

The 10 episodes will be released in a period of four weeks:

Week 1 (Friday, September 22nd): Episodes 1-4

Week 2 (Friday, September 29th): Episodes 5-7

Week 3 (Friday, October 6th): Episodes 8-9

Week 4 (Friday, October 13th): Episode 10 (weddings)
