Premio Lo Nuestro 2025: Who Won and What Had Us in Tears

The 37th edition of Premio Lo Nuestro was a night to remember! Held at the Kaseya Center in Miami on February 20, 2025, the ceremony brought together the biggest names in Latin music for a celebration filled with powerful performances, emotional tributes, and career-defining wins. With the theme “Uniting Generations,” the show honored legendary artists while also celebrating the rising stars shaping the future of Latin music.
The night’s biggest winners were Shakira and Carín León, who dominated with multiple awards. Shakira, even though she couldn’t be there in person because she’s on the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, made sure to express her gratitude. She accepted her six awards via a video message from Barranquilla, sharing how much this moment meant to her.
“Thank you so much for this award. I can’t find the words to express how much this means to me. Winning Album of the Year is incredibly special because this album was made with blood, sweat, and tears. It took over two years of work, and I genuinely appreciate this recognition.”

Visibly moved, Manuel Alejandro took the stage, joking, “This is what’s left of Manuel Alejandro,” before reflecting on his lifelong dedication to songwriting. “For me, this is a great celebration. Since I started in this beautiful America so many years ago, I realized that the strength of its people fades when they hear a love song. That’s what I’ve done all my life—put their deepest feelings into words.”
Another deeply emotional moment came with the tribute to Paquita La Del Barrio, who passed away just days before the ceremony. Pepe Aguilar and his children, Ángela and Leonardo Aguilar, honored her legacy with heartfelt performances of “Me Saludás a la Tuya” and “Tres Veces Te Engañé,” bringing the audience to tears.

One of the night’s most anticipated moments was the tribute to La India, celebrating her over forty years in Latin music. Known as the “Princess of Salsa,” she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her influence on tropical music. The tribute included a powerful musical segment produced by Sergio George, featuring Victor Manuelle, her longtime friend and collaborator, who introduced her with an emotional speech.
Performing hits like “Ese Hombre,” “Dicen Que Soy,” and “Mi Mayor Venganza,” La India delivered a breathtaking performance that reminded everyone why she is one of salsa’s greatest voices. Fighting back tears, she took the mic and said: “This is for my fans. Thank you for standing by me. I want to thank God, the Almighty, who never abandons us.”
Then, with her signature fire, she added: “This is the first award I’ve ever won in my damn life!”—making the crowd burst into laughter and applause.

Alejandro Fernández was honored with the Excellence Award, presented by his kids Álex and Camila Fernández, before he took the stage to perform some of his biggest hits. Holding his phone to read his speech, he expressed, “This award is incredibly meaningful because it represents hard work and dedication. I dedicate it to my family, my children, my girlfriend, my mother, and my father, who, if he were still with us, would be so proud. And if not, I know he’s up there celebrating with Paquita!”
