Nicolas Cantu Grew Into ‘Walking Dead: World Beyond’ Role

Nicolas Cantu started his career as a child voice actor before catapulting up the starmeter thanks to his latest, and most pivotal role on AMC’s The Walking Dead: The World Beyond. A native of Austin, Texas, the Mexican-American actor began performing as a child, appearing in regional commercials. And now, the internet is buzzing about this new kid on the block.
Walking Dead: The World Beyond is a series about the first generation to come of age after the apocalypse, and the latest addition to the immense Walking Dead franchise. The initial consensus from the critics has been that it’s strong on performances (especially Nicolas Cantu’s) and provides a new perspective within The Walking Dead universe, which isn’t enough to make it stand out in an increasingly crowded franchise. But while the critical reception has been lukewarm, the show, now airing on AMC, has begun to garner a growing fan base made up of a younger audience that may be new to the franchise. Considering most of the actors on World Beyond were in elementary school when the Walking Dead first premiered, it would make sense that this could transition the show’s demographics to a Gen Z viewership.
Nicolas even dropped by LATV studios to talk about how he was a fan of the show growing up. What’s next for the 17-year-old Nicolas Cantu? Peep LATV’s entire exclusive interview with Nicolas below and find out:
