Nicky Jam Rescinds Trump Endorsement

Puerto Rican reggaeton super star Nicky Jam last month made headlines after a Trump rally mix-up in which he was mistaken for a female supporter of the former president. The incident has since sparked curiosity across social media, not only about his endorsement but about his stance on political matters and his overall career. The singer/actor is known for his honest and candid communication with fans, especially on social media, now a month later the singer is retracting his stance on his support for Trump, after recent remarks by “comedian” Tony Hinchcliffe at a Trump rally in the world’s most famous arena Madison Square Garden, in which the “comedian” called Puerto Rico trash.
Nicky Jam has joined the list of celebrities speaking up, and posted a video on Instagram on Wednesday, now retracting any association with Donald Trump. He stated, “The reason I supported Donald Trump is because I believed it was what’s best for the economy in the United States, where a lot of Latinos live… a lot of immigrants that are suffering over the state of the economy.” The Boricua said he initially saw Trump’s business background as a promising asset for economic growth, which he hoped could benefit Latino communities.
“With [Trump] being a businessman, I felt it was the right move,” he said in Spanish, aiming to shed light on his decision-making process.

Jam emphasized that his core values and respect for his culture remain non-negotiable. For the artist, being misrepresented at the rally was one thing; but hearing such statements directed at his heritage hit differently. It was enough to pull him back from the Trump endorsement entirely.
As an artist, Nicky Jam has gained international fame for his resilient journey and chart-topping hits like “El Perdón” and “Hasta el Amanecer,” Some fans on “X” are not quite yet forgiving of Nicky Jam, with one fan saying “No, you made your bed now lay in it” with others saying “Welcome back Nicky” and “He finally woke up.” Many other Latinos have defended the beautiful country of Puerto Rico and have endorsed Kamala Harris, including Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and John Leguizamo. The upcoming election will take place this Tuesday November 5th, 2024.
