The Olympus of Puerto Rican royalty in the Big Apple

The organization distributed the parade’s highest titles among figures who represent excellence in music, social resilience and contemporary acting:

  • Grand Marshal (Daddy Yankee): Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez receives this distinction following a consecrating year where the Latin Recording Academy also named him “2026 Person of the Year.” The parade pays tribute to him as the definitive pioneer who globalized urban music from the archipelago.

  • Parade Queen (Dayanara Torres): The organization honors the former Miss Universe 1993 and current television host not only for her flawless career in the media but also for her philanthropic work and her inspiring battle and victory against stage three skin cancer.

  • Parade King (Anthony Ramos): Born and raised in Bushwick, Brooklyn, the actor, singer and dancer embodies the success of the diaspora thanks to his acclaimed roles in the musicals Hamilton and In the Heights, consolidating himself as a champion for Latino representation in Hollywood.

“Somos Más Que 100×35”: A slogan with global impact

For this 2026 edition, the organization adopted the official slogan “Somos Más Que 100×35.” This phrase references the geographical dimensions of the Caribbean island in miles, making it clear that the influence of Puerto Ricans transcends any border or physical limitation.

The New York parade will also serve as a showcase to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the northern municipality of Vega Baja, the birthplace of legends like jazz musician Juan Tizol, former baseball player Iván Rodríguez, and Bad Bunny himself. Mayor Marcos Cruz Molina will coordinate the journey of a delegation of more than 500 people to march in the metropolis. Furthermore, the parade will pay a special tribute to the neighboring state of New Jersey, home to more than half a million Puerto Ricans.

Ultimately, the procession will formally start at noon, promising a historic day where music, politics and the arts unite to prove that maps cannot measure the impact of this culture.
