May’s Must-Watch Latino Shows and Movies

A new month means a new binge list! Get ready, because May brings us drama, laughs, revving engines, telenovela twists, and even heart transplants. From Netflix originals made in Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina, to sports documentaries and Latin American actors showing up across genres, here’s the lowdown on what’s streaming this month and where you can find Latino talent.
Netflix in May
May 1st – The Biggest Fan
A Mexican dark comedy that mixes fame, chaos, and a questionable comeback plan. The Biggest Fan follows an actress (Kate del Castillo) who heads to Mexico to revive her career, only to meet her “number one fan,” played by Diana Bovio. Hugo Catalán rounds out the cast. Things get weird and fast. One of those stories where cancel culture, parasocial relationships, and second chances all crash into each other.

May 7th – Full Speed (Season 2)
NASCAR’s getting the Formula 1-style documentary treatment. Full Speed is back, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at last season. Everyone’s eager to see if Daniel Suárez, the only Mexican driver in the NASCAR Cup Series, gets some serious screen time this year. He’s been putting in the work on the track, so fingers crossed we get a lot more than just helmet cams and interviews.
May 14th – Snakes and Ladders (Season 1)
Straight out of Guadalajara, this Mexican comedy-drama stars Cecilia Suárez as Dora, a school prefect who ends up in the middle of a power struggle. After a small incident between two kids, Dora finds herself caught in a mess that could ruin her career or take her straight to the top. It’s jam-packed with school drama, office politics, and a good dose of satire.

May 15th – Vini Jr.
This one’s for soccer fans. A full documentary on Brazilian superstar Vinicius Jr., from his days in São Gonçalo to the lights of Real Madrid. Expect appearances from legends like Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, and even LeBron James to get a shoutout. Vini opens up about his path, the pressure, and what it means to represent both his country and one of the biggest clubs in the world.
May 21st – Poor (Season 1)
Classic telenovela setup with a twist. In this new Colombian series, a wealthy businessman and a working-class dreamer discover they were switched at birth, and now have to swap lives. Think of it like The Parent Trap meets Ugly Betty, but with adult men and more awkward boardroom scenes. Should be fun.
May 30th – The Heart Knows
This Argentine drama explores themes of love, grief, and identity. After receiving a heart transplant, Manuel begins to feel different… and ends up seeking out the widow of the donor. Naturally, he doesn’t tell her the truth. Benjamín Vicuña and Julieta Díaz lead the cast in a slow-burn romance that unfolds through secrets and second chances.
