Mexico’s new World Cup kit might divide fans with its “classic” choice ahead of 2026 reveal

The wait is nearly over for fans of El Tri. With just eight months to go before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Mexico’s new home jersey is finally set to be unveiled, and it marks the long-awaited return of the nation’s classic green.

According to multiple reports, Adidas and the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) will reveal the new kit in November, just in time for the team’s upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Paraguay.

The return of tradition

Mexico has rotated through several designs since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, testing bolder concepts, from the red feather-patterned kit to the black-and-gold edition worn during the 2025 Gold Cup.

But for 2026, the federation seems ready to return to its roots. Early leaks suggest a deep green base, inspired by the team’s golden eras in the 1990s and early 2000s, paired with subtle Aztec-inspired textures and a refreshed national crest.

The choice connects to what many fans have been calling for: a revival of identity. Green, after all, isn’t just a color, it’s Mexico’s football DNA.
