The Latino Nominees You Need to Know for the 2025 Emmys

The 2025 Emmy Awards are shaping up to be a milestone night for Latino talent in Hollywood. On September 14, the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles will host television’s most prestigious ceremony, broadcast live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. While the spotlight will shine on global hits like Severance (27 nominations), The Penguin (24), and The White Lotus tied with The Studio (23 each), this year’s Latino nominees ensure that the celebration will also be one of representation and cultural pride.

Pedro Pascal – Outstanding lead actor in a drama series

Among the standouts is Chilean superstar Pedro Pascal, who secured a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Joel in HBO Max’s The Last of Us. The post-apocalyptic drama, adapted from the acclaimed video game, also earned a nod for Best Drama Series. For Pascal, this marks his fourth Emmy nomination, following earlier recognition for his 2023 debut as Joel, his hosting stint on Saturday Night Live, and his narration of the documentary Patagonia: Life on the Edge of the World.

In The Last of Us, Pascal’s portrayal of Joel, a hardened survivor who forges an unlikely bond with Ellie (Bella Ramsey) in a devastated America, has been hailed for its emotional depth and humanity. With season three on the horizon, adapted from the darker and more visceral sequel of the video game, Pascal continues to be one of the defining actors of his generation.

Colman domingo – Outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series

Equally celebrated is Colman Domingo, the 55-year-old actor of Guatemalan and Belizean descent. He is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Danny in Netflix’s The Four Seasons. Based on Alan Alda’s 1981 film, the series follows a group of longtime friends and couples navigating the complexities of marriage and friendship across a year. Domingo’s performance as Danny, paired with Marco Calvani’s Claude, stands out in a show filled with comedic legends like Tina Fey, Will Forte, and Steve Carell.

This is not Domingo’s first Emmy recognition; he previously won in 2022 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his unforgettable turn as Ali in Euphoria. His nomination here underscores his remarkable range, moving seamlessly between drama and comedy.

Liza Colón-Zayas – Outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series

Representation also shines through Liza Colón-Zayas, an American actress of Puerto Rican descent, who earned her second consecutive nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series thanks to her role as Tina Marrero in Hulu’s The Bear. Last year, Colón-Zayas made history as the first Latina to win in the category, and she now returns with a performance that continues to anchor the acclaimed series.

Tina, the sous chef of the restaurant at the show’s heart, brings both maternal strength and newfound self-worth to the chaotic kitchen. Colón-Zayas’s grounded performance has become one of the series’ emotional backbones, making her recognition both deserved and historic.

Selena Gomez (Only murders in the building) – Outstanding comedy series

Meanwhile, Selena Gomez continues breaking barriers behind the camera. Though not nominated as an actress this year, Gomez is recognized as an executive producer for Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, which received a nod for Outstanding Comedy Series.

This marks her fourth consecutive nomination as a producer, making her the most-nominated Latina producer in Emmy history. Gomez, who stars as Mabel Mora in the beloved series, follows in the footsteps of pioneers like Salma Hayek (Ugly Betty, 2007) and Marlis Pujol (The Kominsky Method, 2020–21). With season five premiering just days before the Emmy ceremony, Gomez’s continued recognition cements her influence both in front of and behind the camera.

Together, these nominations highlight the growing presence and power of Latino talent in Hollywood and the 2025 Emmy Awards promise to be a night where our excellence is celebrated on television’s biggest stage.
