Maluma, Anitta to Become Wax Figures for Madame Tussauds

Two Latinx musicians have been chosen to be immortalized by the team behind Madame Tussauds. Maluma, one of Colombia’s prized international star of the urban genre, and Anitta, who is considered as the greatest international Brazilian in all of history, will join the list of artists that will be part of Madame Tussauds Wax Museum next year, 2022.

Both artists have already had their measurements taken, and have posed in front of cameras to find the perfect angle for their wax figure. More than 20 artists and professionals, each for Maluma and Anitta, will be working for several days, weeks, and months in order to match the performers’ bodies and face measurements and color to create the perfect and life-like replica for the both of them. The team will be working in a London studio before transporting the wax figures to where it will be exhibited. Maluma’s is going to Madame Tussauds is Orlando, and Anitta’s is going to their museum in New York.

Maluma, who is currently making waves in the music scene with his reggae and pop single “Sobrio,” shared the news of being chosen to be Madame Tussauds new model on NBC’s Today show last August 11. The musician also shared some videos and images of the behind the scenes for his wax replica. As we saw from the sneak peek, he will be wearing an all-white Versace double breasted jacket and a pair of black Bottega Veneta shoes. Talking about this achievement, Maluma expressed that this has been his dream since he was in high school, and he expressed his gratitude because his dream is coming true!

On the other hand, Anitta shared the news on last Friday the 13th . The music artist is leading a whole generation of Latin American musician since her debut 10 years ago and is currently ranked 15th on Billboard’s list of the most influential musicians. Anitta shared the news by posting a video on her IG account with over 55 Million followers. The snippet showed the production of her statue as she selects the perfect pose for her replica, poses, skin tone, outfit, etc…

Maluma and Anitta are not the first Latinx artists and personalities to have been immortalized by the talented team at Madame Tussauds. Colombian actress and breakout star of comedy series Modern Family, Sofia Vergara, currently has three wax figures on display in three different Madame Tussauds centers: in Las Vegas, in New York, and in Orlando. World renowned Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin, has a wax figure in Madame Tussauds museum in Orlando, which was unveiled in 2014. The late and iconic Mexican American singer Selena Quintanilla had also been immortalized by Madame Tussauds. Selena’s wax figure is currently on display in Hollywood. The emotional unveiling in 2016 was attended by Selena’s family and husband.
