Marycarmen, Rocsi and Amara Get Emotional Talking About Their Parents

The last two episodes of La Charla have been uploaded on LATV+, so you can now watch the full series! In the latest chapter, our hosts Amara La Negra, Rocsi Diaz and Marycarmen Lopez Schulman will discuss their relationships with their parents – a touchy topic for almost every latina. 

While the conversation at times is fun, fresh and lighthearted, the ladies also get emotional and talk about the sad moments they’ve gone through. In this episode, there are moments where things get particularly emotional, especially towards the end, when a totally unexpected surprise arrives for each of them. The hosts begin by chatting about the personality of each of their parents: what their fathers and mothers are like, if they are together or not, and speak to the ways in which they complement one another. When it came to educating their children, what were some of the important messages and lessons they instilled? Also, how much can parents be judged for someone’s upbringing? We’ll get to find out what our hosts think.

A particularly poignant moment occurs when Amara, Rocsi and Marycarmen dive deeper and begin to discuss some difficult moments they had experienced as daughters, in particular with the male figures in their lives. That is when the topic of forgiveness comes up: can a deep, painful wound be healed? Maybe during the pandemic people have reflected on the affection of loved ones and reassed what’s really important. Perhaps, forgiveness can help us heal, leave the past behind and let go of the pain.

New opportunities are important and forgiving someone who has hurt us helps us to evolve and make our journey in life a little bit lighter. Understanding the reasons why our moms or dads made not-so-great or even bad decisions may allow us to overcome and heal.
