Kanye West Sneakers Sell for $1.8 Million at Auction

Auction house Sotheby’s sold Kanye West’s prototype Nikes for a record $1.8 Million in a private auction. Kanye wore them during the 50th annual GRAMMY’s in 2008 where he performed the now classic songs “Hey Mama” and “Stronger.”
The sneakers, which were purchased by RARES a sneaker investment marketplace, whatever that is are going down in history not just as the first sneakers to be purchased for over $1 million dollars, but the most expensive sneakers ever. With artists like Bad Bunny and J Balvin making waves with sneakers and even Lil Nas X making the most controversial ones, it would be Ye who would find a way to break the mold and take things to a whole new level.
Previously, Christie’s had auctioned ’85 Jordan 1s for $615,000 that Michael himself wore when he shattered a backboard during an exhibition pre-season game in Italiy. This proves more than the shoes, people are willing to invest the big bucks into the story.
Before Yeezy’s came to life Kaybe had his size 12 sneakers designed by himself and Mark West who created these kicks with soft black leather, the iconic Nike swoosh and Y medallion Lacelocks.
What do you think? Will it be Lil Nas X, or will it take some rare Kobe Sneaker to beat this price tag?
