Kanye Takes Over The LA Coliseum with Free Larry Hoover Concert

Ladies, gentlemen, and non-binary friends: Ye is officially (still) the G.O.A.T.
Yesterday, the artist formerly known as Kanye West and Drake took over the historic LA Coliseum in order to reunite and put on a once in a lifetime event benefiting the release of alleged Chicago gang leader, Larry Hoover. And on a cold winter’s night in LA, Ye showed us that he’s still got it. Drake was just okay – but YE!? SHEEEESH. He reminded us why he is an irreplaceable part of our culture. He is an important existence, and it’s about time we all recognize that.
Hit after hit after hit. I could not believe the epic amount of hits he cycled through in just a couple of hours. His energy was potent; he was in the zone, and he delivered in a big way. Each new track that came on got me more and more hyped. We got the old Kanye, we got the new Kanye, and everything in between. Again, Drake was just okay.
Not to reignite this beef, because I’m glad it’s over – but how can Drake even be considered in the same lane as Kanye? They’re on completely different levels. The amount of hits in Ye’s catalog is astronomical, and when you pair that with the amount of legendary tracks he has produced before and during his rap career, there is just no comparison. I’m sure there will be some disagreement, and I know I might get some hate in the comments, but I said what I said!
Regardless of the comparison, it was nice to see them performing together for a good cause. Both of them absolutely slayed their respective tracklists atop the man-made hill at center field of the Coliseum, and it was a sight to behold. It was Ye’s first performance since his public meltdown during his Saint Pablo circuit, which forced him to cancel his tour – and he more than made up for lost time.
As for the cause itself, it doesn’t look like Larry Hoover will be released anytime soon. The event will definitely raise a lot of money for organizations such as the Uptown People’s Law Center, but it is unlikely to make much of a difference in terms of Hoover’s prison sentence. Hoover has both federal and state convictions, and while there is some wiggle room to get his federal sentence reduced, he would still be forced to serve the remainder of his 200 year murder sentence in state prison. Therefore, the only way Larry Hoover could attain his freedom is through a gubernatorial and presidential pardon, which can be hard to come by. We’ll post more updates about Hoover’s case as they become available.
