Juan Toscano-Anderson’s Mexican Drip Was the Real Slam Dunk

We need to talk about the Mexican drip worn by Juan Toscano-Anderson that stole the show at the 2022 NBA All-Star Weekend Slam Dunk Contest. At 28 years old, the Oakland native who plays for the Golden State Warriors ended up coming in second to Obi Toppin from the New York Knicks, but it was his outfit paying tribute to his Latino roots that won him first place in the eyes of his Mexican and Mexican-American fans…who are probably still recovering from the LA Dodgers winning the World Series. People everywhere are wondering where to buy the Toscano-Anderson Mexican flag jersey.
Toscano sported a customized version of his number 95 jersey with the Mexican colors on it, which paid tribute to his family who come from Michoacan, Mexico. The jersey was paired with verde, blanco y rojo custom Nike kicks. As the headline-stealing promise of the Castro Valley High School team, Toscano-Anderson went on to play in Marquette University before playing in the Mexican basketball leagues and even in Venezuela, and then finally joining the NBA.
Juan Toscano-Anderson isn’t the only Latino to shine in the NBA slam dunk contest, but it has been a while. The last memorable dunk contest moment came from Cedrick Ceballos in 1992.
