Jocsan Duran: The Dominican singer who’s taking Regional Mexican by storm

Dominican singer Jocsan Durán is quickly becoming a name to watch in the music world. Hailing from Santo Domingo, Jocsan is creating unique path as a Regional Mexican music artist, a genre not often associated with his Caribbean roots. In a recent interview, he opened up about his musical journey, his inspirations, and how he hopes to leave a legacy for his family.

For Jocsan, music was always a part of his life, but finding his own sound didn’t come easily. “The music was always a part of me,” he shared. “But it was hard to find music that was for me, that really resonated.” The turning point came when he discovered Regional Mexican music, a genre known for its raw, emotional storytelling. “When I found Regional Mexicano, I felt like I found myself,” he explained. “That’s why I chose it, because I could let it out, and I won’t be judged through that character. Jocsan also recounted some of his most memorable concert experiences, starting with the first one he ever attended: Wisin y Yandel. “I danced the whole time,” he recalled with a smile. He also shared his love for Aventura and, of course, Juan Gabriel’s concerts, describing them as life-changing moments that deepened his connection to music.

As his own career takes off, Jocsan has experienced the surreal and heartwarming moments of fans approaching him with gratitude and admiration. “It’s been amazing to see,” he said. “That’s my favorite part of it all, to see how my music has made a difference in people’s lives.”

Jocsan also spoke about the emotional rollercoaster of performing live. “The emotions double when you’re on stage,” he explained. “Now the fans are going to see you as you display those emotions. It’s a powerful experience.”

Family is a huge source of inspiration for Jocsan, particularly his wife, kids, and mother. He draws strength from them in every step of his journey.
