How to Introduce El Dia de Los Muertos to Your Kids

Halloween can be scary for many kids, and the concept of death is even harder to grasp. As a mom, I see that with my little 3-year-old when he asked me where his abuelo is and why he can’t see him. Thinking about how to break it down for him, I was happy to hear that Disney Channel is doing an episode about El Día de Los Muertos where “The Three Amigos” explain the extraordinary meaning and show us how to celebrate Día de los Muertos in a positive way.
Mickey Mouse Funhouse “Día de los Muertos” premieres Friday, October 6 at 10:00 a.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel and 12:05 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Junior and features Donald’s old pal Panchito invites the gang to celebrate Día de los Muertos in Mexico City. Daisy is worried she may miss her beloved gran-duck, who has passed away, but discovers the joy of remembering love.
Disney gave LATV an exclusive clip; check it out:
Día de Muertos is rooted in the commemoration of deceased loved ones practiced by some Latin American and Spanish populations. In Spain it’s called “El Día De Todos Los Santos”, but it’s basically the same concept and that is the day that you celebrate and remember your loved ones who have passed.
