Heartfelt Father’s Day Letter to a Latino Dad

Father’s Day

This Sunday, June 19th we will be celebrating Día Del Padre, a day dedicated to fathers around the globe. While gifts are great and all, sometimes the best way of showing that we care is through our words. With that said, here’s a personal Father’s Day message celebrating one of our very own Latino dads.

Dear Dad,

First off, Happy Father’s Day. It’s been a while since I last articulated my feelings towards you in words and I would love take this opportunity to do just that – as it allows me to be more thoughtful and communicate my emotions to you in ways that I wouldn’t be able to otherwise.

You are, and always have been, my greatest role model. You may never understand just how much I have taken from you and the extent to which you have influenced me as a person. A confidant and mentor, you have talked and guided me through some of my most challenging experiences (and more) with an attitude that was both sympathetic and understanding as well as pragmatic and reasonable. You have taught me about life, shared your experiences with me and provided me with perspective, all the while finding ways to relate with me. You are the inspiration behind the most important life philosophies that I have adopted as a person – those relating to happiness, desires, lifestyle, and principals. You are a friend, father, and so much more.

Above all, you have always been there to love and support me unconditionally – and have exemplified a great deal of the attributes and characteristics that I too would like to embody in my life and as a person.

Our relationship has always been strong because it is built on common interests, mutual trust, respect, and open communication. As time goes on, I look forward to continuing to strengthen our bond and connecting on an even deeper level. I feel grateful to have you as my dad. You’ve always showed me the way. I love you.
