Goya Robles opens up about his father and becoming a father on ‘Checkitow’

Father’s Day is a time to appreciate and honor the fathers and father figures who have shaped our lives. It’s a day to reflect on the lessons we’ve learned from our parents and consider how those experiences influence our own approach to parenting. The way our dads raised us, their values, their struggles, and their triumphs all play a role in how we decide to raise our children. For some, it’s about continuing a legacy; for others, it’s about breaking a cycle and creating a new path.
In our latest episode of Checkitow, we analyzed these themes with a very special guest, actor Goya Robles. Known for his compelling performances on screen, Goya shared his deep personal story about father and his journey towards fatherhood. He also talked about all things acting, getting typecast, and producing his own projects.

Goya Robles on fatherhood and forgiveness
Goya Robles opened up about his father’s troubled past and how it has both impacted their relationship and influenced his own views on fatherhood. Despite his father’s many struggles and the problems that they have caused, Goya remains one of the few people willing to reach out to him and is hopeful that he won’t pass his traumas onto his future son.
“My father has probably had one of the darkest lives I can think of, he has just made a mess. He has no one in life that has any interest in visiting or connecting with him. I’m probably one of the last few people in his entire life that has this willingness to reach out,” he shared in our interview.
