Born on July 19, 1994, in Seattle, Giovanni spent his formative years in León, Guanajuato, under the influence of his Mexican-origin father and American-Italian mother. From the age of one to nine, he lived with his grandparents in León before relocating to Chicago. The turning point in Giovanni’s career came when he seized an opportunity to spar with none other than Manny Pacquiao, under the watchful eye of legendary trainer Freddie Roach.
Describing the surreal experience, Giovanni shared to El Correo Newspaper: “That day I left my apartment in Chicago and drove three days to Los Angeles, California. When I arrived at the gym, Freddie told us: ‘You can’t come in, Pacquiao just arrived.'” However, fortune favored him, as Roach offered Giovanni a chance to spar with Pac-Man.
