Elon Musk Successfully Hacked a Monkey’s Brain

Elon Musk’s Neuralink project has reached the important first milestone of brain hacking by enabling a monkey to play pong telepathically. In a video released on the Neuralink blog you can see “Pager” a macaque playing Pong… only he’s controlling it with Link chips implanted into his monkey brain.

At first, the monkey is playing the video game pong in the traditional way using a joystick, but later using the fully-implanted technology he’s able to wirelessly play the game using his thoughts. It’s cool and all, but I’d love to see a monkey play Mortal Kombat instead!

“Today we are pleased to reveal the Link’s capability to enable a macaque monkey, named Pager, to move a cursor on a computer screen with neural activity using a 1,024 electrode fully-implanted neural recording and data transmission device, termed the N1 Link. We have implanted the Link in the hand and arm areas of the motor cortex, a part of the brain that is involved in planning and executing movements. We placed Links bilaterally: one in the left motor cortex (which controls movements of the right side of the body) and another in the right motor cortex (which controls the left side of the body),” – Neuralink Blog Post

Elon Musk took to Twitter to brag about the incredible feat, while his Neuralink partner Max Hodak weirdly hinted at creating “super exotic novel species” which is code for ungodly monsters that will bring about the end of mankind.
